Uniquely historic and serene place to stay in the heart of the deep Mani. All the top reviews are spot on. Amazing property, excellent accommodations, great location, wonderful hosts, serene setting. For us it was a great place from which to explore the region, but I imagine some people like to just stay put and enjoy the solitude. We particularly enjoyed strolling through the little village in the evening and driving the tiny roads to neighboring fortress towns.

This review is a few months overdue, because we have been so busy with work travelling. However, we haven’t forgotten our fantastic stay at this wonderful piece of Paradise, and feel that we ought to share our positive experience here with others.

We (a party of 2 couples – 3 Greeks and 1 Malaysian) stayed for 2 nights at the end of July. We booked the “Character with Private Terrace” and “Timeless with Private Terrace” – both of which were exquisitely furnished; a clever combination of all the necessary modern comforts with traditional, original façade of the building/tower. The private terrace on the top floor was a wonderful place for us to watch the sunsets, the bed was comfortable, the indoor lighting was sufficient, the shower was powerful and there was sufficient space for our luggage. We also had a working table with convenient socket points to work at.

The breakfasts were something we look forward to every morning – we were served at our table (not buffet style). The food presentation was well thought-of, all our meals (we had dinners there too) were delicious, and the service was impeccable!!

Overall, we had an amazing experience staying at this wonderful family-owned place – and this, I believe, was made possible by the great team of Illias and his wife, Tania, and their children, Panagiotis and Zaira. They have proven to all in the hospitality industry that you do not really need a HUGE team to make your guests happy.
We can highly recommend this fantastic place to others, and look forward to return when we next visit the area again.

Citta dei Nicliani is a sanctuary for travellers. On arrival Panayioti welcomed us, gave us a fruit drink and let us sit on the terrace and relax before we went to our spacious and tastefully designed room. All the guests at dinner, prepared by Ilias and served in the elegant glass-walled dining room, were friendly, and Panayioti recommended some excellent Greek wines to complement the dishes. Breakfast, prepared by Tania, was incomparable, probably the best we have ever eaten. During the day we toured the region, with advice from Ilias on where to swim and eat. The building restoration is extremely well done and impressive in its attention to detail; while we were there Ilias was checking the colour of new mortar samples, in both wet and dry situations. My wife and I could only stay for just two nights in late September and wish it could have been longer. We will be back and we will recommend it to all our friends.

If you like off-the-beaten track travel and understated luxury, this is the place for you! y husband and I were in Greece for our 20th Anniversary and spent 3 unforgettable nights at this amazing boutique hotel. There wasn't a single thing we didn't love about it. From the most gracious and hospitable hosts to the fabulous homemade breakfasts and dinners, not to mention the amazing countryside, we couldn't begin to say what we loved best. Suffice it to say, we did not want to leave.

Room tip: Get the top room in the main tower. It has charm and amazing views.

Pure magic -- the environment, the setting, the decoration, the atmosphere, the rooms, the hosts, the food (the breakfast! the orange salad! the fresh fish!) Cosy, warm, beautiful, authentic, romantic, enchanting. Pure magic. Unique.
