My extended family and I spent two weeks here. The location is a great base for day trips out to see Brittany but perfect for lazy days by the pool too. There is access to the trails and paths of Quenecan Forest right outside the front door which provides lovely walks, runs and bike rides. There are some hilly sections and it's uneven underfoot so is not suitable for everyone. There is also the Nantes - Brest canal which is a 5 minute car ride away which offers much easier walks and bike rides.
There are two man made beaches on Lake Guarledan, one of which is within walking distance. Both have toilets, play areas and catering and pedal hire. MERLIN restaurant was paticularly good.
The pool is a good size for a holiday rental and the fact it's heated and has a removable enclosure meant that it could be used even on cooler, rainy days. There is a good selection of outdoor seating and sun loungers provided. There were two BBQS available for us to use and we ate this way several times.
I don't know what water heating system is in place but there was always loads of very hot water and the water pressure was great for showers.
There is ample parking for three or four cars and the accommodation was more than spacious enough for us (we were 6 adults and 2 children).
I must mention our hosts. Throughout, from booking process to departure, Armand and his family were warm, welcoming, helpful, and informative. Armand even popped in during our stay whilst he was over for his brothers wedding to make sure we had everything we needed.
The property is located right at the end of a country lane which made it a very peaceful location and fantastic for stargazing at night too.
I would happily recommend this gite to others.
From the moment we arrived on a hot, sticky day we were impressed with the accommodation and facilities. Within 20 minutes the grandchildren were in swimsuits and enjoying the swimming pool, whilst some of the adults were given an explanatory tour of the property that covered enough detail to make our stay trouble-free (e.g. Wi-Fi, gas BBQ, rubbish disposal, etc.). An expat family living nearby introduced themselves and promised to offer local knowledge and assistance should it be needed; we didn't see them again but it was comforting to know that they were there.
The property is on the edge of a forest with spectacular views across the valley from vantage points along the nearby paths; morning walks for the early-risers here are a must! The property, seemingly on the edge of the great outdoors, had something for all of us being both well equipped and peaceful but as importantly, it is only a 10 minute drive to an excellent lakeside restaurant, 20 minutes to sizeable shopping facilities and within an hour of major tourist sites.... for us the balance was just right. Our interaction with the thoughtful owner, his family (who manage the property) and immediate neighbours was limited but sufficient. Overall, for someone seeking a retreat from a busy professional life, whilst still surrounded by his noisy family, this location was ideal and I have no reservations about recommending it to others.
Very nice house, good value for money, and a helpful friendly host, would definitely go back again
Peaceful and perfect location near the forest of Quenecan and lake of Guerledan..highly recommended ...
