Owner description: Located in Watarrka National Park, Kings Canyon known for its 100–meter-high sheer cliff walls. There are a variety of walks, the most popular is the Rim Walk which is a 3-4 hour walk with a steep start. Kings Creek Walk is a gentle walk at the base of the Canyon which takes about an hour. Please note that in hot weather where the forecast is to be 36 degrees celsius and above, there are access restrictions to some walks.

“Superb! Just do it!!”
Reviewed 4 September 2011

Take water and pace yourself, its strenuous to get to the ridge and a reasonable fitness level is required, although we did it with 2 and 4yr olds who were wonderful.
Allow at least 4 hours and take food and at least 2 litres of water. Rest under the shady trees and keep your eyes out for the wildlife, lizards can be basking beside you but blend in so well you hardly see. The short walk in the valley is gives a good aspect if you cannot make the longer one. It's also FREE, but leave it as you found it - pristine!

“Better then Ayers rock”
Reviewed 13 August 2011

Kings canyon is amazing. One minute your stood on top of the canyon looking down into it, and then the next minute your in the canyon at the bottom swimming in a lake. The Garden of Eden is outstanding. The views from the top are picturesque. Cannot explain how good it was. Much better than Ayers rock!!! By far.

“Breathtaking!”
Reviewed 29 July 2011

I didn't know much about Kings Canyon before visiting this most amazing canyon in the Red Center of Australia, so I was completely taken aback while experiencing it. I did the long rim walk, which wasn't the easiest thing one can physically do, but so worth it! From the moment you reach the top of Heartattack Hill and start admiring the views, it's just magic. The scenery of the canyon changes so much in itself, the flora was very interesting and the special spots of the canyon such as Garden of Eden, Lost City... were stunning. One of my top experiences in Australia!

“Breathtaking”
Reviewed 23 July 2011

If you are heading into Central Australia make sure you allow a bit of time to get to Kings Canyon, it is about half way between Alice Springs and Uluru and you can either come around the back way through Glen Helen Gorge and overland from there to the Canyon or down the Stuart Highway and turn off there.

My preference is the back road because you do get to see some really amazing part of the country and realise that you are just so insignificant in the whole scheme of things that it is not funny.

The Canyon itself shows the power of water over time, and yes it is a bit of a hike to get there and you do need to have some level of fitness but it is certainly worth the effort with its magnificent terrain and wonderful colours.

Allow a couple of days to explore the area, you won't regret it.

“Petrol $2.09 a litre!”
Reviewed 16 July 2011

You must do the Rim Walk at Kings Canyon it was excellent. Took about 3 hrs. Food at the hotel up the road from the Kings Canyon Resort is average at beast . Camel burger & chips $18, smallish but tasty pizza $18, steaks $38. A schooner of beer cost $7.50. Thje petrol was $2.09 a litre!! We had to go here for breakfast as the Resort restaurant was undergoing renovation and they ran out of tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, sausages so could only offer bacon and eggs.
