Description: Dine under the stars in the tranquil surroundings of TOP DIDJ GROUNDS Watch the wallabies and hear the local wildlife in the surroundings reminiscent of an outback stockman's camp. In this wonderful atmosphere, enjoy your award winning camp oven meal by the camp fire, with Aborigine bush tucker flavours. This year, is a tribute to all Station Cooks- Past, present and future, and step back 100 years to a traditional Stockmans Camp for a Traditional Stew and Flash Damper and Billy Tea, polished off with Gem scones, native jam and fresh cream. Be entertained by great Aussie humour, true and not so true yarns, the good, the bad & some a little bawdy. Billy spinning competition for little and the grown up kids. Some diets can be catered, if booked in advance. We cook to bookings, so phone first. Open April until October each year, though restricted to Thursday and Saturday nights with Pandemic in Australia. BYO Alcohol.

I recently spent 6 months touring Australia. Of all the wonderful memories the evening I spent with Marksie and Penny is one of the best! Sitting near the fire under the amazing Katherine stars, holding a baby wallaby in my arms, hearing fascinating stories and eating the best stew I ever tasted made for an unforgettable evening. Not sure why this is listed under restaurants because it is a total entertainment experience. An evening with Marksie made my trip special!

Wow, thank you Loryn for the awesome review. So happy you enjoyed your night with us. We are very lucky to have rescued wallabies coming up to see our guests, and love to be petted. We managed to get to the Finals for the restaurant category in the Tourism Awards, though as you say...we are more than just a Restaurant. We are on the road just now, collecting the bush tucker for our 2020 season. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year. Cheers, and a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.

Fantastic, thanks for the great review, appreciate you taking the time to write. We enjoyed your company too, and it is our guests that make the night fantastic. Marksie has been cooking and telling his stories for 20 years so has perfected his Camp oven meals, and does spin a great story. So glad you enjoyed your night. We'll be back next April, so hope you can come again. Cheers.

What a wonderful night's entertainment with an excellent dinner, good fun and the company of some very friendly wallaroos. Thanks Marksie and Penny, especially for the special meal for my wife. This is a must do event if you are visiting Katherine but you need to book and do it soon as Marksie is threatening to retire.

Wow, thank you for your wonderful review. Glad your wife enjoyed the Vegetarian lasagne. This also have 6 special flavours in the layers, so very tasty. We love to eat it ourselves. We enjoyed having you guys here too, and hope you can come again. We close on the 11th October as the heat and humidity makes it too hard to cook in the sun, so we will be back for start in April 2020. Cheers.

The humour is very old-style but this was a fun night out. The bush stew was wonderful (most of us went up for a second serve)! Definitely worth a visit.

Thank you Rochelle, great review. Appreciate you taking the time. Yeah, guess you could say cheesy, but definitely old fashioned fun as they did back on the stations round the camp fires. Dry (no alcohol) so stories became long winded and the truth stretched a bit to make a funny story. Our stew is way tastier than those days as we have learnt so much from the Aboriginal ladies who taught me a bit of their bush tucker. I feel honoured to share some of these tips with our guests. And yes, we ensure you can come up for seconds....and sometimes more! Thanks again, hope you come back again some day. Cheers.

Wow thank you very much for the wonderful review. Yes an old fashioned Aussie night, of comfort food with a very tasty camp Oven meal and beside a campfire. Live a bit of history that will soon be lost in these modern times. The stories are chosen by our guests, and what they want on the night. A bit of Aussie history on the Stations, a bit of bush culture, or a bit of Aboriginal culture. We try to fit in a bit of fun so you go home laughing. Hope to see you again sometime. Cheers.
