We stayed at this hotel the last 4 nights of our 8 night honeymoon. We booked this hotel because we wanted to spend the last 1/2 of our trip relaxing on the beach/at the pool all inclusive style. It did the job and we had a good time. I've stayed at quite a few all inclusive resorts in my time and this one I'd rank last.
The food wasn't good (even at the a la carte restaurants). And everything else was just okay.
The best part about this hotel was that a little down the beach there was a trail that led to an area where wild monkeys lived. We were able to bring them food and feed them.

We had a great honeymoon. As mentioned earlier, it did the job but we wouldn't go back.

My wife and I stayed here from the 14 March till 28 March 2018,after reading mixed reviews about this hotel we came here with an open mind,bad pillows smelly rooms old and dated cold food queues at the restaurants slow service at the pools well my wife and I did NOT experience any of these so called problems.We had the best 2 weeks of our life’s it was fantastic room clean and modern food and drinks always available service around the pool great pools good ok a few tiles missing but it’s a big job closing down a pool in the high season holiday makers would then have something to moan about.The beach is not to everyone likings if you want a perfect beach don’t come here,the staff do an incredible job and I mean all the staff a special thank you to Victor our pool waiter and to Monica and branly in the main restaurant.The evening entertainment was not to everyone’s liking but you can’t please everyone all the time ok some shows not great,some funny and good we liked about 9 shows out of 14.Our flight from the UK with ‘tui’ Was on time good service transfer was good check in was FAST,The weather was never below 94 for our 2 weeks here,check out easy 10 to 12 then coach pick up at 15 mins past 12pm,Costa Rica what a wonderful country lovely people,took a trip over the border to Nicaragua long day out but a good experience also a trip to the raincloud forest.The hotel also has an 24 hour lounge which has hot and cold food also drinks help yourself any time.If I have to say the only negative thing I can say about the hotel is PLEASE sort out the tv channels the majority of people staying here speak English there are only 2 political news channels and fox sport then one German speaking channel and one Italian the rest was in Spanish please put on at least one English speaking movie channel would be great to watch a movie at the end of the evening.I would give this hotel 4 and half stars,5 if you sort out your tv channels,would we come back here ?, absolutely.

The resort was nice and clean. The food was decent. Somethings were very good, others weren't great. The buffet was large and had a wide range of items. We ate at one specialty restaurant, Japanese, and did not feel it was worth the hour wait. The beach is ok. The rooms were clean and we had no issues. We tried the yoga class and it's safe to say yoga is not a thing in Costa Rica. While it was entertaining, the instructor might have just watched a few YouTube videos before coming to teach the class. The Christmas music that was played gave us all a laugh too (we visited in April).

Stayed at this magnificent hotel and did everything! Zip lining, horseback riding, mud baths! Food and rooms were terrific! I would definitely go back and would try their other locations as well! Staff was extremely efficient and polite.

My husband planned a February vacation at Riu Palace. We went through a travel agency and was given this site and all travel plans laid out. We flew out without event, were transported from the airport with no problem. Our issues arose as soon as we left the shuttle and stepped foot on site. We were kept in the lobby for 2 hours or longer. They couldn't find our reservation We provided booking info, and were then accused on not paying. We showed verification via our credit card. They shuffled more and said we didn't do something correctly and they had to contact their offices. Long story short, we did everything correctly and the shuttle, agency, credit card company along with everyone BUT the front desk. They had overbooked and we (despite paying) were left without a room. We were not offered anything to drink but beer (we don't drink beer) and no food (hadn't eaten in a while due to flight, etc). We offered to just pay again while they straightened it out and were told they had rooms so just wait. We waited and waited and were then told that there were no rooms and they were moving us to the sister resort next door. No apologies, no let me make this up to you, nothing! It took a month and lots of pushing to have them finally reimburse the room cost difference. I wouldn't stay with this company ever again even if it were free. Horrible experience all around

Room Tip: double check and check again your reservation and then make sure you have proof or they will not treat you right even if they make a mistake
