Wanted a burger (you know that feeling when you really need a burger) and so tried The Underground. Cosy atmosphere - low lighting...a quirky place indeed. Eric, the friendly Bostonian served us - good job considering it was his first night and we were his first customers! Enjoyed a couple of pints of decent local tap beer and my wife had a couple of glasses of very acceptable chardonnay. We shared a plateful of salmon fishcakes - and very nice and tasty they were too. My wife had a vegetarian dish for her main meal - plenty of it and very enjoyable and I had a massive tasty burger with fresh-cut chips - juicy...full of flavour and really hit the spot. Too full for puds. The cost was cheap eats and good value. It's not top shelf dining but it's good honest food at a very fair price in a nice basement atmospheric setting. We'll be back. Recommended.
