I have stayed here numerous times for work. The facilities are excellent, the rooms are clean, warm and extremely comfortable. Couldn't ask for anything more after 10 hour days. The owners are super friendly and welcoming and go above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable!

My original choice, Tramways, was booked out but Cedar Grove is just across the road and only a very short stroll to the town centre and restaurants. Accommodation was great and ideal for couples, self contained, quiet and clean and a nice change from the international hotel chains that I normally use. I'm only disappointed that I did not have the time to have a good look around. The motel has an arrangement with the Tramways hotel so guests can dine there and have the bill charged to their room at the Cedar Grove.

This motel, named after the cedar tree on Grove Street corner, is in a convenient location on Nelson's main thoroughfare and a short walk from the city centre. We were most impressed by the large living area, the separate large bedroom and ample bathroom. The kitchen facilities were amazingly comprehensive and the suite was completely self-catering. Our first floor location was sunny and airy with a balcony looking over the central car park. All facilities were clean and spacious.
The only thing marring our pleasant sojourn was the absence of office staff when it came to depart and pay for our breakfasts. Well after advertised opening time, the office door was locked. We resolved this little financial issue online at our next venue.

Room Tip: The first floor suites are accessed via rather steep concrete stairs which could be slippery when wet.

It was our first stay in a NZ motel, and it exceeded our expectations. We love the location, clean/good space and kitchen. We stayed at 3 other places but this kitchen is the best of them. The lady at the reception was helpful. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Stayed 2 nights in 1 Bedroom Executive suite (Room #320) that had living area, full kitchen and separate bedroom. The accommodations were spacious, clean, modern, well designed, nicely furnished and convenient to downtown shops and restaurants. Really couldn't ask for much more to have a very comfortable stay while visiting Nelson. Highly recommend.
