This is a nice place to stop and have a look at these curious rocks.

Good occasion for a break and a picnic.

Low tide is the best time to visit to be able to reach all the boulders, have a picture on them or next to them, they are interesting to see. There is a $2 gold coin donation to go and see them. The beach is also lovely for a walk. The cafe is ok with a good view and good selection of food and drink but extremely expensive.

on spacious beach, but as it s a hot spot it s full of tourists even on sunrise, at least you are near the Moeraki Lighthouse that is more genuine !

Stopped off here on way to Oamaru from Dunedin. There is a large free car park (with a very large pothole on the entrance drive) and the beach is a short walk from here. 5 minutes from the steps on to the beach we came across the series of boulders being perfectly round and in small groups. Worth a short photo stop being such an unusual feature. There is also a cafe and separate gift shop. Time spent here was about an hour.
