We strolled past the building and were struck by the sculptures outside. We are no more aware of the steampunk culture as the average citizen but thought for ten dollars it is worth a look. Inside there are three rooms with large and small sculptures made of scrap metal and machinery, along with interactive exhibits and a general creepy ambiance. The artwork is very cool and the portal room is a must visit. If you are worried about what will happen in the room I can assure you it is not scary and there is nothing creepy in there! The yard is also full of art and features large works. Very nice even if you know nothing of steampunk.

A fun way to pass an hour - great displays of ingenuity by obviously passionate people the Steampunk movement is unique and this museum Headquarters is a real testament to their fandom. Definitely worth visiting, especially for the final room.....

Hands on fun for adults and young. Very resonable prices to get in. Spent a couple of hours exploring the place. Do a second walk thru when you have “finished”, you are guaranteed to find something you didnt see first time! Will visit again next time in Oamaru!

$10 pp to walk through the rooms and outside area. Very unique and weird creations, kind of reminds me of mad men with welders running crazy! The light room was my favourite, simple but well done. A little musty inside so might trigger allergies if u r sensitive to mould - to be expected in old buildings of this nature.
