Just a fantastic experience in this small coastal community. This is a community volunteer activity and they take a lot of pride.

The little old lady conductress was a well of information.
The slow pace at which you can see Portland is suited to travellers of all ages.

Anyone that is new to Portland must do a tour of the town on the tram. Interesting information from the driver, and an unique view of some of the town.

Took the family there as a stop on our Great Ocean Road trip. Kids love trains so I knew a tram ride would hit the spot. Cute little museum with some model trains inside kept the kids entertained for a few minutes before we boarded the tram and headed out. Tram ride takes you along the entire Portland foreshore, allowing you the opportunity to hop off and visit downtown Portland. You can also stay on the tram and ride it all the way to the WWII memorial in Portland, and then back to the start of the trip. Round trip takes around an hour, and the ride is narrated by a guide who offers you insight into the history and landmarks of Portland. One piece of advice I would offer is to sit in the second car, as it can be difficult to hear the tour guide from the front car. Overall, great place to take the kids and kill some time and get a unique perspective of the town of Portland. Definitely recommend it, and I will visit again if we're back in Portland.

Always take our overseas Rotary visitors on the Cable Tram as they enjoy the ride, the scenery and speaking to the volunteers on the tram.
