I was in Kaikoura during the earthquake last weekend. As everyone knows, food and water were (and are) scarce.
The owner/chef and her husband made a load of food, using their gas stove, and drove it in their truck up to Churchill Park to hand it out to people who needed it.
They did not ask for money, and when we thanked them they said that bringing the food up was the natural thing to do, and they were glad to help. The food - vegetable curry, chicken curry or tomato soup - was fantastic. They also supplied bread rolls. It was truly wonderful of them.
My experience of this restaurant is them bringing delicious food to people in need, so I can only imagine how good their food would be if the restaurant was operating fully!
