What a great find in Whangarei serving the very best Israeli/middle eastern food at reasonable prices. It would be hard to find somewhere that could better it. Service was top rate and very friendly right in the middle of town amongst other interesting restaurants

On our way north travelling around NZ we decided to have dinner at this establishment. The food was fresh and authentic, easily comparable to my homeland. The prices are very reasonable.
Highly recommended.

We had a nice lunch here, pita pockets at a good price of $13 each. Good size and quite hearty. My only criticism is that some hot sauce or something on the table would be great for people who like to spice things up. But otherwise, highly recommend!

We were in the area for a few days and this is one of the places we tried, we were happy that we did friendly staff and good service.
Our two boys just wanted a plate of chips, and they each got a plate with a good helping of chips plus a couple of sauces. We tried the mixed special which had a bit of each of the specialises. This was a very nice way of getting a taste of those dishes. The single serve did the two of us very nicely.

The Fat Camel came highly recommended by a local... Whangarei must be 'starved' of decent eateries if this was a recommendation! We arrived super hungry and thought the meals must be either 'amazing' and big portions given the rather pricey $$ for a casual cafe lunch - sadly it was neither... the salads were actually disgusting, and perhaps something that you might have gotten away with in the 80's - big, shrivelled dry hunks and gross dressing. It made us appreciate our local kebab shop for taste and price. The chef offered us our money back, but we were already out the door.
