Margaret River Resort
Ranked #10 of 10 Hotels in Margaret River
Reviewed 22 December 2011

We spent a few days at the Margaret River Resort and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a spa apartment with a Kitchenette which was really handy because on a couple of days we had a large lunch and only felt like having something light for tea. The Resort is an easy walk into the Margaret River township and so at night you can walk into town and have a meal and a few drinks and and it's an easy walk back to the hotel. The Resort is also on Walcliffe Road which takes you out to Caves Road where a lot of the wineries and restaurants are. The rooms appear to have had a refurbishment as they were clean and in good condition. There's a Pub attached to the resort which offers counter meals and pizzas if you don't want to go out at all. If your energetic there's a tennis court and swimming pool with a spa. There are free in-house movies on three channels as well as all the pay TV channels if you don't feel like going out.

We stayed 3 nights at $350.00 per night, the room appeared clean, but nothing extra that you would expect for $350.
The Air Con didnt work, so we had to open the windows and woke up bitten, the second night the cleaner had not cleaned the room properly, dirty cups, bed not made properly just thrown over, no toiletries left, we checked the sheets to find the mattress cover was stained.

Five of us, all adults, stayed in a two bedroom villa. The accommodation was clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. The staff were friendly and efficient. The grounds are pretty and well maintained and the pool and tennis court are a bonus. The location is very convenient with only a short walk to shops and restaurants. It is a good base for exploring the Margaret River region. I would definitely return.

Perth, Western Australia, has again appeared on The Economist's list of Top Ten World's Most Liveable Cities. Site of next month's CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting), Perth has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with beautiful weather. First introduced to Perth when I studied at UWA in the 60s, I've been going back again and again. Almost 10 years ago we started going to Margaret River, wine-growing region of WA. We stayed at Margaret River Resort, and have been going back frequently, staying in the 2-bedroom villa with the loft. Its complete cooking facilities always makes it so handy to cook a leisurely meal and enjoy it with a bottle of MR wine from it's own bottleshop. The Pub serves as a great way to unwind after a day trip to it's many wineries...Leeuwin Estate, known for it's fabulous concerts every year, Voyager Est, where the roses in it's gardens are absolutely stunning, Lawrence Winery, with its beautiful setting where many a wedding takes place and the more established Vasse Felix and Brookland Valley with its renowned Flutes Restaurant....these are only but a few of the many beautiful wineries, each with its own special features. Then there are the Venison Farm, Chocolate factory etc etc. My elder son once told me that a holiday in MR was the only place where he could truly relax and chill out! I was there for 2 nights a week ago with three friends of another son who also graduated from UWA and has now settled in Perth. We had a relaxed, wonderful time, shopping in the quaint town centre just within walking distance and visiting the wineries....cooking our own dinner and chilling out at the Pub. We didn't have time to visit Pemberton or Albany, which I would love to! Next time, when I have at least 3-4 more days!

Room Tip: If you are a family, choose the 2-bedroom Villa. It sleeps 6, but in winter, can be quite cold in th...

This place was recommended in The Lonely Planet & the reviewer must have been on drugs when he visited. The staff were extremely rude, the facilities were dated and shabby to say the least, and it was extremely overpriced. We paid €165 off-season for a suite which was last decorated in the 80's and last cleaned in the 90's. The staff were also extremely rude and hostile. The only possible redeeming factor was the fact that you could walk into the town centre for dnner/drinks, you certainly wouldn't want to stay in their dated 'ye olde english' bar and restaurant. STAY CLEAR!

Room Tip: awful filthy and dated suites, can't comment on any others
