What a fantastic set up. Great room, comfy beds and when we found the Engine Room could not believe it. A fully equipped kitchen and a slow burning stove to boot! Then french doors out onto a full covered patio, with a BBQ. Was an absolutely gorgeous place with the best amenities. Will only ever stay here from now on when in Margaret River.

Room tip: All the rooms at this Inn have rooms that are fully decked out Kitchens that can be used by all. Choose any room

This review is more relevant if you're bringing a family of 4 like me. I stayed at the Captain's Quarters and this review is specific to the Captain's Quarters, Admiral Stirling Inn.

Plus Points:
- Affordable. If you add in the extra guest charge for an extra 2 persons, it still remains affordable. Because... see below.
- It's a great base. Walking distance to Margaret River main street and more importanly, a IGA supermarket.
- Comes with a kitchen. Yes, everything works. Knives weren't sharp enough but that's me being fussy. You can get more knives from the Engine Room which is attached to the Captain's Quarters.
- the Engine Room. It's a kitchen, very nice big one. If you manage to get the Captain's Quarters, think of this room as an add on because you have to go through the Engine Room to go into the Captain's Quarters. It's not advertised as such but that's reality. If you get the Captain's Quarters, it's two for one!!
- Cooking means savings!! Because of the proximity to IGA supermarket, buy your groceries there and cook here. You can save a lot. The savings here will offset your room rate. Average outside dining prices are about $12-$16 and beyond per dish. If you're cooking for a family of four, this can translate to a lot of savings.
- Naval theme. Adds character to the place. As has been described by others, it is cozy, quiet and clean. Lots of wood. Feels like a log cabin.
- Movies are available. I didn't watch any but there are a stock of movie titles available at the front desk. You can pop those DVDs into the rear of the TV for a movie night. Er.. sorry didn't have a good look at the titles.
- Friendly staff. Expect the usual warm Australian hospitality here.

Minus points
- Cosy Room. I think it's a Queen and a single bed in one room. The sofa folds out into a bed but it takes some effort. My family of four managed to fit into the Queen and the single but we're small built. If you are bigger built, if means someone will need to sleep in a seperate room.

Room tip: Ask for the Captain's Quarters if you're a family of four

On the surface this place is very nice. Our suite, the Stern had queen size bed, dining area, kitchen, lounge area with TV, big ensuite etc, and balcony/ verandah. First impressions were great, but a few minor problems- the light over the stove didn't work,,and made it a dark little corner. Limited crockery- only one dinner plate. No chopping board etc.Just little things, but expected more from an accommodation of this level. We noticed that the 4 properties linked to Admiral Stirling were all for sale, so maybe a little run down. The staff were very friendly and nice, but we just felt that the facilities had been neglected eg the sink next to the BBQ on our deck was filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. Location etc fine, parking etc ok and overall we are satisfied, but just needs a bit more TLC.

We stayed in the Officer's room, which was very nice and clean.
Parking is available at the rear and front of the Inn.
Admiral Stirling Inn is just a walking distance from Margaret River city Centre.
It's a beautiful place to stay at.
Would definitely stay again.

This inn is very comfortable and cozy with country setting. Located just five minutes walk from Margaret River city center, with plenty shops and restaurants. We stayed in Governor's Lodge, with two stories. It is very suitable for two small families where kids can play upstairs while adults can enjoy relaxing conversation downstairs. The inn provides amenities with cooking facilities. We will definitely come back to this place again next time we plan to stay in Margaret River.
