“River Valley Villa - everything you might want”

Stayed in June, in River Valley Villa (3 bed villa adjoining Pearl River House. RVV is located close to Prevelly, but is a convenient 10 min drive away from the centre of Margaret River. The other bonus is that it is very accessible to Caves road, which brings you to quite a few wineries and is the route to many of the other scenic coastal sites. Booking was simple and communication was prompt and always responsive. Arrival and entry into the property was also trouble free, and overall, the booking experience was very easy. On entry, the property was everything we might have wanted. Soaring rooflines with a large airy living room (perhaps too airy in the depth of the Australian winter!), and a balcony (for warmer times) to enjoy the view of the sloping grounds. The views are undoubtedly far superior from PRH, but we only needed the smaller RVV. The kitchen is well equipped with most things you would need, though perhaps the crockery selection was a little eclectic. There was a microwave (sadly, the microwave display was non-functional), a fan-forced oven, and an effective gas hob. I have to single out their cast-iron grill pan - simply the best I have ever used! Also a large and efficient fridge freezer, for all your holiday groceries, and a welcome bottle of wine. Bedrooms were down one floor (though there is a loft-room available off the living room) - comfortable, if a bit chilly in winter. There was electric oil radiators, but no airconditioning (for summer). The living room had a reverse cycle unit. Bathroom was shared - which may be a little troublesome if you have more than 4 in your party, but the shower was powerful and water heater effective. There was also a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom. Free wifi with good connection speeds was provided.
In summary, a lovely, quiet villa - convenient to everything you might want in MR, yet slightly off the beaten track. Some minor points - shared property with PRH, so your solitude depends on some extent to the consideration of your neighbours. Some of the lights were fused on arrival, and the microwave was tricky to use without the display. Nonetheless, still judged as a very good experience all round.
