With yummy country cooking at fantastic prices, you can tell the food is cooked with love! feeling thrifty the Cafe, bar offers abound. my favourite is a great blend of real coffee!! But on a hot day maybe a beer. Staying here is homely with all rooms renovated. Compared to other Western Australia outback places this is great! staff working with pride making a real difference!!

The perfect place to stay, we traveled to shark bay and stopped off at the billabong hotel we had heard it was a little ruff and to be honest we were a little apprehensive but now having stayed we would recommend it to all our friends. The owners couldn't do enough for us and made our stort stay a lovely part of the holiday.

We stopped here on our way up to/back from Shark Bay. Fantastic place to get something to eat & drink, with friendly, efficient service. You can eat inside or on the veranda, with table service (order & pay at the bar). Excellent choice of build-your-own sandwiches, burgers, etc. And they make a mean bacon & fried egg sandwich!
The toilets are very clean, too. Just next door is a fuel station and mini-mart.

We stayed at the Billabong Homestead Motel on our way North - there is not a lot of choice out there! Our motel room was fairly clean, the shower was hot and my bed was ok, my partner had a few springs rampant in his mattress. There is no kettle in the room, so the only place to get a cuppa is in the bar/cafe. Prices for food were very high - we ate at the Roadhouse next door and had excellent T/bones for $20 each. We had our own breakfast supplies so used the small fridge and hit the road for Exmouth early. If you are a light sleeper, take earplugs, the generator is constant.

Room Tip: Make sure you are in the "newer" units.

This place had a certain reputation but is under new management and the manager, Ian and his wife, were very friendly and helpful. They've done a lot to improve the place already.

I had a motel room, which was very clean and generally comfortable with new furniture and a clean bathroom. The only downside was it's the only place I've come across with no kettle or fridge etc in the room, so not great if you want to make your own tea or breakfast etc. There was only a stool to sit on too, and no actual chairs, so it wasn't particularly comfortable for spending time in the room.

The rates were good - I've certainly had poorer accommodation at higher costs in these remote areas.

It was worth staying here just to see the wonderful swarm of birds around the billabong first thing in the morning.
