The room was well appointed, modern, light with a comfortable bed and a relaxing shower. Welcoming front desk team. Great breakfast selection. Fanastic artwork throughout the hotel and an interesting introductory video.

I was told when booking that double rooms have shorter- than-regular Queen beds (specially made for for Mercure!), so booked a twin room. But they're shorter too - at 183cm (6ft) my husband's feet were well over the bottom. Website and confirmation said the room had a desk - no desk; the manager said this is "a mistake" - he offered the use of conference facilities which didn't suit.
Everything was mingy - the tiniest room I've ever stayed in (19sq m), with no room for a suitcase other than taking up all the space on the floor between the beds - meaning we couldn't walk around at all. One chair only, and not positioned so you could watch the TV. Two measly capsules for the coffee machine and a meagre 100ml of milk. No chilled water (2 bottles @$2 each), not even a free biscuit. Small bath towels, cramped little triangular-shaped shower, and the sole rubbish bin was in the bathroom, but with no lid. No toilet brush either. This is giving you the least they possibly can. Well below the standard of the average motel. Avoid.

Loved the location. Room wasn’t big but had a comfy bed, was temp controlled & had great hot water pressure. Made the most of the in room coffee machine & enjoyed my morning coffee on the balcony looking over the city. Menu for breakfast & dinner had variety and most importantly, tasted great. Staff were friendly & extremely helpful with a couple of my requests.

More like the rooms you would find in a budget Japanese hotel, these rooms are not suitable for two average-sized people to stay in comfortably.

Being 185cm tall, the beds must have been the shortest beds I have ever come across, the bathrooms are odd, light switches and power points in the bathroom have no logic and there is no place for one suitcase let alone two.

Looks like it was designed by someone who never stayed in a hotel and planned the rooms purely for efficiency of material use, not customer comfort.

Lastly, if you are going to offer bikes like the art-house series do, make sure they are suitable and ready for use. No point having them on display if they are all broken!

Hotel was clean with good service. We stayed in a standard room which was compact but adequate. The main problem for me at 185cms tall, was the bed - it was too short and the doona was too short and too narrow, leading to a very poor sleeping experience. This was a deal breaker for me as my sleep is important especially on a holiday break.
