We (mum, dad and 2 kids aged 5 and 7) spent a night here after an exhausting but wonderful day/night at Sovereign Hill and Winter Wonderland. After a long day it was perfect to just be able to walk up the hill to our accommodation.

The hotel staff were more than helpful, room perfect for what we needed it for and the kids loved having bunks. Breakfast was delicious and accessing Sovereign Hill whenever we needed was easy.

The only negative of the whole experience was the Wonderland Feast evening meal we'd prebooked at Sovereign Hill - very, very overpriced and average barely tepid food (staff were all lovely).

Views are lovely and such a nice place to wake up. Will definitely come back.

Had a wonderful stay last week for Winter Wonderlights and touring Ballarat and the region (Great Ocean Road). The staff at reception (especially Helen and Sally) in the dining/breakfast area and the cleaners of rooms are always pleasant and willing to assist. Best B&B I've stayed in (even though it's not one!). Always lots to eat in the dining room for breakfast and the view out the window overlooking the museum and the hills of Ballarat is lovely and relaxing. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable with wonderful heating and hot shower. Gardens and pathways are looked after and the outside lighting is excellent when returning from the museums night time activities.

Lovely looking colonial style hotel. Have stayed 2 years in a row. This time we had a sovereign room. Accommodates up to 4 comfortably. King size bed and bunks. Very Spacious, clean, comfortable room and bathroom. This room type included a small cooking area and sink. Easy access to sovereign hill which is right alongside. You enter through a small building straight into the park. We included a hot breakfast this time and weren’t disappointed. Delicious food and left feeling very full. Can’t wait until next year!

We stayed here for one night during the school holidays as part of a Winter Wonderlights package. Overall we had a comfortable stay and the location is certainly convenient when visiting Sovereign Hill. In more detail:

Pros
- We arrived early (around 10.30am) and were able to park our car at the hotel and were given access to the park through a special entrance which was great and we returned around 3pm and were checked in straight away.

- The room was very clean and spacious with a king sized bed and a bunk bed for the children.

- We opted for a take away dinner that night and it was great to find some crockery and cutlery in the room that we could use (unfortunately nothing to wash them up with afterwards though).

- The included breakfast was very nice and filled us up. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. It wasn't extensive but there were plenty of options (eggs two ways, bacon, hash browns, sausages, beans, cereal, yoghurt, toast and muffins).

Cons
- Having booked online I was a little concerned that the paperwork I had been sent via email didn't list the date we were booked for but upon ringing and confirming all was OK.

- We were in Edmond Terrace and things didn't start well when we had to try the access key six times before the external door would open (this happened every time we entered the door and was reported to reception).

- The room was comfortable but felt a little institutional, which could have been the building or maybe the steel bunk bed which gave it that feel. Also there was no soap dish at the bathroom sink (unfortunately not uncommon in hotels) which with two children became quite messy.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the convenience of being right beside Sovereign Hill on this occasion with easy access as we were able to leave and return for the night time Winter Wonderlights experience. If we were just going to be Sovereign Hill during the day though, I would probably consider other accommodation.

We stayed at sovereign hill hotel as part of a visit to sovereign hill to see the winter wonderland experience. You can come and go to sovereign hill as much as you like with your car parked away from the huge public car park for regular customers. The rooms were exceptional and the breakfast included was amazing. Staff couldn’t be more helpful.
It all made for a wonderful visit

Room Tip: Go for the superior room. King size beds
