For those of you who don't drink tea and visit Europa, you will have only had positive experiences at this cafe. Unfortunately I love my tea, and have resolved to never risk our relationship again by returning to Europa. The first time it was a strange tasting Chai, the second; an absolutely repulsive tasting Green Tea. Possibly something the staff need to look into? So, enjoy the hip atmosphere and relatively good food but beware of Europa's tea!

If you're in or even near Ballarat, I'd highly recommend that you make a detour to eat at this restaurant. My partner and I had dinner here on the way to the Grampians and were so impressed that we made sure we left in time to come back to it on our way home.
The table service was lovely, with friendly and professional staff.
The meals were superb, and there wasn't much of a wait. The porterhouse steak with shiraz butter sauce was incredible, as was the mustard pork with pear. And the chocolate soft-centred pudding was simply amazing!
I definitely would (and have!) recommendeded this restaurant to friends and family.

European style cafe with a good range of options; booked in at the last minute on a Saturday night, with children. All day menu means all family members had something suitable on menu including pizza, wedges, steak etc. Wine by the glass was ok, service was excellent and price reasonable value for style of dining; somewhere between cheap eats and quality cafe dining. Atmoshpere buzzy, but dining area is very cavernous if not full. Toilets could use some attention.

The concierge a Craig's Royal Hotel recommended Europa Café, which was booked for 7.30pm. As it was still raining and as there are a couple of princesses in the group who melt when getting wet it was decided to go by taxi. Although the concierge said it was only a couple of blocks away. A one minute taxi ride took them to the restaurant.

Europa Café was humming when they arrived, wait staff bustling around, the conversation of other diners added to the general good vibe of the restaurant. Along one wall was the bar service area with chiller cabinets displaying many tasty looking cakes and sweets, continuing to the open plan kitchen.

Menu’s were given and all agreed they were hungry for some local foods. Time to try the wine from the region . Part of the reason for the rally was to indulge in produce of the areas they would stay. As Ballarat and the Grampians region markets itself as a wine growing area we choose a Mt Langi Ghiran Billi Billi Creek Shiraz from the Grampians $37.00, which was so superb, had to have another bottle.! We wanted to go to their vineyard for wine tasting but it was shut the day we went, bugger.

On to the food, how can you visit Australia and not eat “skippy” $28.50 for the Kangaroo which was a little tough, perhaps should have been allowed to rest before being cut and arranged on the plate.
The special Duck $29.00 was melt in the mouth wonderful.
Tandoori Pork a curry with rice rita, chutney and fresh naan bread $22.50
Chicken Breast grilled and placed on pumpkin cous cous with salsa verde $24.50
Vegetable Risotto $18.50 completed the groups main meals.

To finish a Sticky Date Pudding $12.50, a cake chosen from the chilled cake bar $7.50 and two Cheeses to share, one blue was sharp and creamy and a nice firm gouda $9.00 each, served with some fig jam that was a perfect accompaniment for the cheese.

Everyone was very full and happy. The service was good and attentive. Final cost for a group of five Aus$243.50 or Aus$49 per person for food and wine. Everyone one felt this was value for money.

I am trying to find excuses to get to Ballarat just to eat here! The thought of Europa Cafe alone makes my mouth water. Food, wine, coffee, dessert were all VERY impressive, beautifully served. There are local wines available. The housebaked bread is truly sensational. Very clean and comfortable interior. I wanted to try everything I saw served on other tables also! It's easy to linger here, menu was so tempting I couldn't decide what to order at first. Look out for the specials board too. Finally - I suggest you make time to see the wonderful Ballarat Art Gallery nearby before or after your meal, and check out their gift store too. Love it!
