Reasonable accommodation in good location close to the waterfront. Good stopover on tour from east coast to Cradle mountain. Free wifi in lobby and complimentary laundry facilities good. Only negatives = inadequate ventilation in the WC, and hotel car parking is limited and costs $8 a night.

Thankyou Xanadu - Scotland for your comments.
I am happy you enjoyed your stay in Launceston and at our hotel.
As we have limited parking it is on a user pay system as it is with most CBD properties within Launceston.
We hope you get an opportunity to visit Tasmania again some time.
Kind regards

Finally decided to stop for the evening in Launceston after a long day motorcycle touring in northern Tasmania. I'd had some hit-or-miss accommodation along the way, so the Sebel was a pleasant surprise--it is chic, immaculate, well run and good value given the prices lesser properties have demanded during my travels around Australia.
My unit was a full-size suite with all amenities and appeared to be virtually new. Maintenance seems to be a priority at the property; I was surprised to find out the building was more than five years old. Perhaps the combination of owner-occupied condos and hotel units keep standards up to picky levels.
Staff were friendly and efficient: one quickly brought me a wireless internet router after I discovered that the ethernet cable in the room wouldn't fit in my Macbook. She even hooked it up, ensured access, and then offered 24 hour free use if I signed up for the Sebel loyalty program(also free.)
The Sebel is only a two block walk to the main shopping district, and about the same distance to the splendid Seaport restaurant row along the river. Highly recommended to take a patio seat at one of the cafes, and watch the racing sculls and small sailboats move along the Tamar River.
I had a nice breakfast in the attached restaurant, and checked out afterwards without a glitch--front desk staff were on top of their game.
Overall, this corporate-oriented hotel was a great find for me.

We booked The Sebel Launceston through whatif.com Our three night stay included a one bedroom suite with balcony, with a bottle of bubbly, and fudge. It was very good value, particularly as we stayed on Christmas and Boxing days.

The living/dining area of the suite was spacious. Lots of cupboards with toaster, kettle, etc "hidden" inside - nice and tidy. There was a table and chairs on the balcony which lead off the living area, and overlooked the cafe/restaurant.

The suite had a slick, modern feel - nice use of colour. Small dining table and chairs were provided along with a comfortable couch.

Double sliding doors opened up the living space into the compact bedroom. This allowed you to watch the TV in the living area whilst in bed :)

There was a separate toilet, which was a little bit like a large cupboard, but it was nice to have a separate loo. The bathroom housed a generous sized bath, shower and basin with good sized vanity top.

Overall we really liked the Sebel. Located within an easy walk of much of what there is to see and do in Launceston, and the Information Centre is next door. The undercover parking and access to the hotel foyer was very convenient.

A special mention has to be made of Ben who manned reception - very helpful, friendly and efficient. A valuable staff member.

We recently stayed a couple of nights at The Sebel in Launceston and were very happy with the rooms and the service provided by staff. Whilst it is not a 5 star hotel, the rooms are very well set out and all seem to be suite style. Staff were very quick and helpful with a couple of minor issues (no coffee cups in room). The location is excellent as it is only a short stroll to the wharf area and downtown. We will be back in a few weeks for a wedding and have booked family members in.

We visited Launceston in December, planning to spend our first two nights at The Sebel and our last two nights at another hotel in Launceston. We were amazed at the size of our suite and its inclusion of everything we could need. The staff was welcoming and we were within easy walking distance of the shopping centre. We were not disturbed by any noise at all! Our stay was so good that we cancelled our reservation for the other hotel and spent our last two nights at The Sebel. We started our wonderful holiday feeling most relaxed and we ended it this way as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook the car park.
