Quality Hotel Colonial Launceston
Ranked #7 of 30 Hotels in Launceston
Certificate of Excellence

I recently stayed five nights at this hotel and liked every aspect of it. While the classic buildings with fireside armchairs and two stunning restaurants where a comfort of an evening, the modern extensions with large size rooms were so reasonably priced it was a pleasure to stay there.

In the last six years we have been to Launceston four times and I can now say we have found the hotel we will be using for the next visits. My wife and I will look forward to our return to the Hotel Colonial Launceston.

Room Tip: A third floor balcony room gives you a sweeping view of Launceston and the Tamar valley.

Hotel Colonial has long been an icon of Launceston. It was a pleasure to return to this well established hotel. The front reception staff were very helpful and informative on the attractions of Launceston. Our room was clean & cosy. The views from the balcony over the city were quite good. The restaurant provided a fine selection of foods. Parking was adequate for us. We will be returning again.

Myself and a handful of colleagues descended on the Colonial (my first stay) for a work related function. The old building is charming with log fires and historical artefacts here and there. Very friendly, accommodating and helpful staff
The good was great - breakfast and dinner. We had two dinners at the Three Steps - both hugely enjoyable. The best oysters I have had for decades. My colleague was smitten with the crisp Pork Belly, juicy and crispy to perfection. I can recommend the seafood - Chowder on night one and Crumbed Scallops on night two
I will be back

It is one of the best hotel in Launceston I personally felt. The balcony rooms looking over the city were quiet good. Looking down the Tamar River, was an awesome experience and magnificent view. The free parking in the CBD were of great value. The open fire, the founting in the breakfast area was quiet relaxing.
Looking over right next door, the Great St John Church was an amazing building. The handy Gym was pretty nice even though it wasn't used a much.

Three steps on George ; 20 steps downstairs was awesome. The open log fire there was nice and warm in 3°C chilling weather in Tasmania. The menu had there had good variety and very excellent selection .The wooden Design and the presentation seemed quiet antique and eye catchy
