This bed and breakfast is absolutely amazing! We stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary for 2 nights! So close to the centre of town but this place is so beautiful you don’t want to leave! We sat on the balcony and took in the view! We walked in to the aroma of a cake being cooked for the guests enjoyment! I could go on and on but I won’t! It was perfect!

The Colhurst House was a wonderful choice for our family. The white room was an ornately decorated room from cookies on the table to beautifully bow-tied back draperies. The hostess was lovely. Not overbearing at all, but just enough to make you feel very welcome in her home w/o being a chatty cathy. The breakfast was a feast! We highly recommend the Colhurst House.

Hi
You may not know that Colhurst House was established as a Bed & Breakfast in 1998
after extensive renovation it was recognised as one of the top establishments of its time receiving many awards. Now close to 20 years on and the addition of its stunning Bath House and Bedroom it still stands as one of South Australia's outstanding B & B's. The compliments that are written on the review stand as testament to its Hospitality and Friendly atmosphere.
Mount Gambier has considerable experiences for the traveler and being in the Heart of the City Clohurst House is ideal for exploring these extraordinary City sites.
We welcome you to our House.

With visitors from N.Ireland we were given a very friendly welcome by Patty and enjoyed the elegance of the White and Black bedrooms as well as the main sitting room. Tasty biscuits etc offered for supper as well as a lavish and delicious breakfast. It was indeed a privilege to stay in this historic family home.

Spacious and comfortable although the stairs to the room are steep with a heavy staircase. Convenient location in the town, car parking available on site and breakfast is available at an additional cost. Separate communal lounge area available
down stairs.

It is pleasing to hear your constructive remarks, with these elderly buildings it is hard to correct past building practices, I agree with your comment. The 1870's building was the first two story building built in Mount Gambier and was built with the first flushing toilet that caused considerable interest with queue's visiting the premises to witness the event. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and agree the breakfast are worthy of the extra expense.
Thank you Guy Matthews

Colhurst House is a magnificent old world building surrounded by well kept grounds. Lovely verandah all around the building too.
We were allocated the Green Room (ground floor) which has an extensive ensuite bathroom. The king bed was most comfortable. Plenty of everything you might want was readily to hand.
The shared lounge area was large and gracious. Plentiful light and comfort.
Our hostess was Patty and she is the best asset. She made time to chat and she laughed easily. Her hot breakfast is a stunner fit for a king or a hungry shearer. The onsite security is called Mr Smith who would probably lick you to death!
A wonderful establishment with brilliant staff in a fantastic location.
