but go down to the caves if you can sadly the lawn wasn't visible as its mostly dirt under the beautiful trees so bring a rug if you want to have a picnic
What an amazing surprise to find this right in the centre of the town! At street level it is surrounded by glorious rose gardens- quite a sight to behold! Then it is an easy walk down several flights of steps to a lookout over the lush green creeper-spangled cave. What a pity that some idiots have somewhat spoiled the lush beauty of it by throwing a shopping trolley down there....
Cave Gardens
Excellent
Magnificent
Sadly, a sight that appears to get little, if any, mention in any visitor information, yet undoubtedly one of the most magnificent gardens I have ever been blessed to see. Especially when all the numerous rose bushes are in full bloom permeating the surrounding air with wonderful aromas. An absolute must find and see, even if the visitor centre staff have no idea where they are.
I have been to Mt Gambier many times for work and have driven straight past this enchanted secret garden without even paying attention. Even as we parked car and walked towards signed area for garden entrance, I was thinking, this is crap.... then this stunning oasis appeared and I was mesmerised! How awesome is this hidden garden.... such peace and tranquility, so beautiful! I will continue to visit the garden EVERY time I go to Mt G for work from here on in... highly recommend it... took my Japanese exchange student and my 9yo daughter, we all LOVED it.
These gardens are quite pretty, even in the middle of summer. The cave is quite unusual and the 15minute sound and video show is interesting.
Full of rubbish, no water flowing. Roses in the garden around it were absolutely beautiful though. Just a local people ant not a place to visit.
