We visited here when we first arrived and the two ladies working there were very pleasant and most informative. There is a museum upstairs which proved to be very interesting.

This is an interesting museum about the local area. It is within the Glenelg Visitor Centre, a beautiful old building. It is not a large museum, but is very well done, and is interesting. Worth a visit

Thoroughly recommend this center, most enjoyable for all ages. Our 9 year old related to many of the exhibits. My age group remembered all the early Glenelg, trams etc. Would recommend all to put aside a few hours to explore this interesting place.

On the final days of our SA Holiday and visited Glenelg's Bay Discovery Centre certainly some excellent displays of how it was. Certainly worth a visit and caters for all ages and it's right beside the beach easy to find.

The Glenelg Town Hall was built in 1875, by famed architect "Edmund Wright", who designed many of Adelaide's original buildings. In 1877 the building was purchased by the Glenelg Council to be used for council meetings.
In 1997 the building was no longer used as the "Town Hall"; so it was converted into a historical museum; which is appropriate, because Glenelg has an important place in Adelaide's history.
The building now celebrates the cultural and social heritage of South Australia.
The Mezzanine floor has an exhibition of the "evolution of beach fashion".
The discovery centre is also a refuge for history and art lovers.
Gold coin donation to enter and view all the displays.
The people at the front desk are volunteers, who have a fantastic knowledge of the Glenelg district, and are able to guide you on what can be seen in the area. The reception area has a number of pamphlets on family activities, or self drive or self guided tours.
Part of the complex there is a coffee shop.
On a cold wintery day it is a welcome place to visit for a few hours.
