Did you know that Wollongong's botanic garden is same size as Sydney's
Put your walking shoes on and enjoy the diversity
Lovely picnic areas and a great fenced of kids play area so you can really relax
Enjoy
We have a 20 month old and I am 35 weeks pregnant with no2, and we wanted some nice bump/family photos.
It was a freezing cold and windy day, but we wanted outdoor pics, so the beach was out, so we decided to go to the Botanical Gardens - Glennifer Brey to be exact.
There are so many beautiful gardens, flowers beds, water featured and old stone building that we were spoilt for choice of back drop.
It was also a great place to let our little girl run around and have some fun.
If the weather was better it would have been perfect for a family picnic! We will have to come back again in summer.
I highly recommend visiting these gardens if you are in Wollongong.
These gardens have a comprehensive collection of plants and spring is the time to see these beautiful gardens in all their glory. Situated at the base of Mt. Keira Wollongong and next to the University of Wollongong. Easily accessible from the expressway - just take the Keiraville/University exits heading north or south and follow the signs. There is a great kids playground, a coffee truck most days and for those less mobile a little open air wagon to take you around. A beautiful duck pond with A Japanese bridge crossing. Take your own food and escape to the many hidden routunders or quiet seats dotted around the gardens. I love Wollongong and it's many great attractions.
Situated near the Wollongong University the Wollongong Botanicle Gradens is the ideal walk any day with an incredibel variety of Trees, Grass, Roses and Ferns, it just goes on and on. Take a rest on the many seats around the Garden with food available and coffee. On site classes are given to gain a better undstanding of the wealth of greenery that has been gathered over many years and on show for everyone, the well kept lawes skirt the Gardens and in all it looks so beautiful, well in closing its really worth a look when visiting Wollongong
Had a stroll through the gardens on a stunning winters day, very peaceful with beautiful gardens. Loved the abundant bird life playing throughout. Good place to take a picnic rug and book or ideal just for a peaceful stroll.
Took my parents for a walk on a sunny winters day. Beautiful, peaceful. Well maintained- you can see the work that is being put in for maintenance and development of new areas (eg bush tucker area). A lovely way to see different types of gardens (eg woodland, succulents, rainforest, herb etc).
The only thing thing missing is a small cafe for ppl to enjoy a coffee or a cuppa in this beautiful setting.
