What can I say about this place other than DON'T DO IT!!!!

Having booked this place as part of a large group as they state they are happy to accommodate we were met by the rudest individual I have ever met, I am let to believe that he is the owner of the establishment. I caught him abusing several children within our group, these kids had know idea who this idiot was and that he was giving them a mouth full, turns out he was sitting in his office/room watching everything on CCTV, (creepy). These kids were full paying guests, he even had the nerve to bring some some other paying guest to their room getting them all to come out side so he could threaten them in front of this guest that if they made a noise and disturbed him they would get into serious trouble.....

Being a Motel that specalised in large groups the food was terrible to the point it was uneatable, cold and tasteless with no understanding the basic food groups of what 10 yr old kids eat.

Again Don't bother staying here...

If ever a motel was neglected and substandard this is it!
The main reason we booked this motel was because it had a heated indoor pool. We had stayed here many years ago and enjoyed it. We booked and paid for a superior room but when we arrived we were given a standard room and complaints at the front desk achieved nothing. We were cold despite having the aircon on (it was blowing cold air) so we asked if the heat could be turned up. The girl said she would go and turn it on and went upstairs. The room did not get any warmer so we resorted to our own small heater that we carry jwith us in the winter. After further complaints re the heating and not getting the room we had paid for the manager appeared and asked what he could do to make things better. Despite Wotif showing he still had a spa room free he would not give us another room but offered a discount on our dinner and breakfast. The meals were mediocre to say the least,
The room was clean and linen ok but light globes missing made it very dark as there is no outside window for daylight. There were no electric blankets or extra pillows. The so-called Queen bed was 2 beds pushed together and there was a most uncomfortable ridge down the middle.. not conducive to a romantic night and cuddling.
The pool was empty and obviously has been for a long time.. there were promises of it being repaired next week but don't hold your breath! We were told that the website said the pool was not available but we could not find that statement on the website. Another couple with 2 young children were very disappointed because they booked so they could use the pool, they came with floaties etc.
Overall the whole place looks neglected.. from the front entry to the dying plants and shrubs in the atrium, The atrium was part of the charm of the place but not any longer.
All motel owners/managers should have to stay a few nights in their own rooms.
They certainly don't operate on repeat business but get by with catching unsuspecting travellers. We won't be caught again.

Room Tip: Don't book it

I only wish I had read the TripAdvisor reviews before I stayed at this motel. All the accounts are entirely accurate. We stayed in a family room, not cheap at $145/night. The room was freezing (for reasons explained in other reviews here - floored building design) We arrived at check in at 2pm and to our astonishment there was a note in the room guide saying the heating was not switched on until 4pm daily. So, we sat freezing for a couple of hours so the motel could save on their heating bill that we were supposed to be covering as part of the room fee? The small air con outlet then struggled to heat the room to 19-20 deg C. Expect a chilly stay here between April thru October when outdoor morning temperatures are down to zero and below. The internal unheated Atrium pretty much reaches the outdoor temperature and the rooms connect to the atrium thru a glass wall. Our room was really lacking in maintenance, had graffiti on the bathroom doorway (see photo), missing lamp globe and broken drawer. Our queen bed was made from two singles (see photo). We thought at least we will get a nice warm breakfast in the restaurant - NO - hot food not served Sunday or Monday as stated on their breakfast order forms ! We then thought, lets go and relax in the heated indoor pool - except - pool had no water (see photo). Looked to have been empty for months - a claimed leak in it , but we suspect it had been emptied to save money for winter. On a positive note, the rooms were well serviced and very clean linen and towels - this is the only positive comment I can think. We rated this place about a 2.5 star and felt ripped off when we left. Staff we un-interested and un-welcoming. Would never stay here again.

We left our booking late, found Airport International Motel could accommodate our request, left a message about arrival time and requests - BTW - booked this directly with their own website - found out that the room didn't meet our needs - one queen bed - not the queen and sofa bed as per their website. The unfriendly staff moved us and arranged a roll away. Instead of four walls, one wall was ordinary glass and you could hear everyone walking and talking as they went past, the light shone in through the blinds and the staff were terrible! Stay only if you must!

Happy with the location as it is pretty easy to access Canberra Airport. However, the property was very disappointing. The staff were not rude but they need to brush up on their customer service skills and not treat guests as an inconvenience. The atrium is open to the air (bad idea for the climate) and the rooms have glass walls facing the atrium....this means the cold air comes straight into the hotel rooms.
The room was clean and neat but as it was winter, the heating in the room was only on or off. No electric blankets ,extra blankets or pillows.
All the above is normally something I can overlook but the main thing that irritated me about this motel is the fact that they have a timer on the hot water in the shower.....what the????
In a place that was -4 overnight. this is not what you want to wake up to in the morning!
I will not be staying at this hotel again when there are so many great properties in Canberra.
