Our expectation for what we paid to stay, didn’t match up. Locality was great, and the cottage sitting on the edge of a dam, was beautiful. Inside there were too many things that were disappointing. Mouldy grout in the shower, mattress dipped to the centre, hot water to the kitchen sink only came when the bathroom hot tap was running, heat lamp in bathroom was blown. As were half of the exterior light globes. Just not what you would expect for the tariff. Even emailing the group host, Hunter Valley Stays, five days later I’m still waiting for their response. Not recommended.

When I saw the Billabong Moon property I knew I had to stay there. It was a beautiful oasis in the heat of the Hunter Valley summer. We went as two couples and really enjoyed swimming in pool, lounging on the deck of the Billabong Cottage and loved that there was so much wildlife on the property including southern grey kangaroos.

The Artists Cottage at Billabong Moon is a fantastic place to stay. Great for a couple. Private and comfortable. The cottage has everything you need and more.

We were even visited by a group of kangaroos, oblivious to us watching from the cottage.
