Stayed here 3 nights as we explored Hunter Valley. We chose a studio villa. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully situated overlooking a vineyard. Breakfast is provided in the room and is homemade continental style. A great experience we were able to enjoy in the sunshine from the deck. Staff were very friendly and helpful in helping us to book a wine tour. Would definitely recommend the hotel and the restaurant on site.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on our trip back to Brisbane. We had a studio room which overlooked the vineyards it was spacious and clean and as per the photos. Toiletries were basic while the breakfast consisted of muesli, muffin which they replaced the next day at my request for bread, yoghurt, juice, tea/coffee and spreads provided in the bar fridge. The location is great only minutes from other wineries and restaurants. There is a guest laundry which is good if you do not wish to pack dirty clothes. There is a pool which was great for a dip after an extremely hot day unfortunately, it is located at the front of the resort near the road and is some distance from some of the rooms. A change room would be nice as you would not need to walk back to the room in your swimmers. Better landscaping would be an improvement.
The mattress in our room needs replacement as it has sagged which resulted in a poor nights sleep for both of us. I mentioned this upon check out and was told I should have informed them the following morning as they would have changed for new mattresses which they had just purchased.
If you require an early departure I suggest you settle your account the previous night as the office did not open until 8.00 AM which is rather late for a hotel especially in the peak season. This may prove a little difficult if you wish to review and settle your account if you dine at the restaurant the night before check out as the office was closed at 5.50 PM when we stayed as I had to ask the restaurant staff for towels for the swimming which are supplied at reception.
I would stay again and hopefully the mattress would be changed.

Thank you for staying at Hermitage Lodge and taking the time to write the review. We were pleased you enjoyed your room, the breakfast, the location, the pool and the complimentary laundry service. The pool isn’t centrally located as the rooms you stayed in were recently added. Your comment regarding change rooms at the pool is the first we have received in the 12 years we have owned the property. On ‘check in’ you receive a ‘Letter of Introduction’ which provides important information regarding your stay. This letter advises guests that should they need to leave early, they should check out the night before as Reception opens at 8am (standard practice in many small hotels). There is always a staff member or ourselves in the restaurant to settle accounts after you have had your dinner - if the ’Introduction’ letter had been read you would have realised there were a number of options available. The office generally closes when all the check-ins have arrived and there is someone in the restaurant to assist with enquiries or requests – this is also outlined the in the letter.
We purchased a couple of new mattresses recently however as guests continued to comment on the amazing sleep they experienced we put off replacing them. Sleep quality is a really important part of anyone’s stay and we always work hard to ensure that our guests leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. It’s very difficult to fix a problem when we don’t hear about until it’s too late – the mattress has been changed.

Stayed here for one night as a transit stop for trip up the coast. Chose the cheapest room, Lodge Room, which is a studio with a comfortable queen bed as well as sofa bed for the kids. Room was spotless. Generous and scrumptious breakfast provisions (muesli, English muffins, yoghurt, juice, tea/coffee) provided in bar fridge, which we had on verandah in morning. Kids loved the pool and running through the vineyard. Top tip however: You should not miss dining in Il Caccitore!!! Best risotto I've ever had. Kids meals we're again generous but so yummy that the kids ate the whole lot. Watched the chef pick herbs from veggie garden out back before dinner. Just really lovely. Next time we will come for a weekend and try out one of the suites. They looked amazing. Noreen was very helpful and overall the stay was without fault.

When I find something special I have two opposing thoughts. The first is to share it so others can enjoy, the second is to covet the experience and keep it to myself.... a guilty secret. Fortunately for you dear reader I am sharing this. Do yourself a favour and spend a night or two here... you won't regret it. The accommodation is tasteful and contemporary, the restaurant is vibrant and friendly. Above all the team here are hospitable without being intrusive - and just plain nice.
