I visited McWilliams Mount Pleasant Estate on a Great Sights coach tour from Sydney. The tour of the winery was simply the best I have ever taken of any winery worldwide. It was informative, entertaining and just about the right length of time. We visited many of the processing rooms on site and ended with a 2 course lunch with 5 wine tastings.

What a great idea. We were taken into a private area of the winery and in front of us were 6 glasses with 6 chocolates. We then proceeded to taste the wine followed by a chocolate. Yummy!

I had the pleasure of participating in a private tasting at Mt. Pleasant whilst in Australia. The staff were friendly and cordial, and the wines were amazing. I particularly liked the beautifully straw-coloured 1999 aged Semillon. This winery was the home of Maurice O'Shea, who was the Australian wine pioneer who showed that winemakers could make fine table wines from Australian grapes, not just fortified wines. It is now owned by McWilliam's Wines, which is the largest family-owened winery in Australia. This winery is definitely worth a stop whilst in the Hunter.

While studying abroad in Sydney, some mates and I went down to the wineries for the day. I must say this is the stand out winery that we went to. Everyone was helpful, and the wine was fantastic. I bought my parents' some bottles to send home. And the dessert wine I had was the best ever. This winery is highly recommended, I haven't been to a better one since.
