Stumbled across this lovely restaurant while looking for a weekend morning coffee & breakfast we were so impressed with the friendly service, picturesque location, charming character and quality menu, we booked in for our anniversary dinner on the balcony the following weekend. The garlic prawns & pork belly entrees were prepared perfectly & a taste sensation. The main course salmon was just as impressive! The ambience of balcony table was also very impressive with fantastic view out to the harbour. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for any occasion from a relaxing morning coffee & breakfast to a romantic night out and even to a group function. Whatever the occasion - Paymasters will prove to make it a memorable one.

Went for our 20th Wedding anniversary. Service and food were fantastic. View of the harbour was good. As a caeliac I especially appreciate the amazing range of gluten free.
Wine list is very good as well.
The only negative is that the floor of the downstairs dining area is a bit uneven and if you are unsteady a bit of care is needed.

My family always love returning to PAYMASTERS for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The service is always fantastic and the staff always going the extra mile.
The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) amazing.
I usually enjoy dinner the best. But love a brunch there also.

We drove up from Sydney on a very wet Saturday morning made worse by badly behaved traffic. Arriving at Paymasters was a great relief and we weren't disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and professional and gave us a table at the open front window with lovely views across the lawn to the Hunter River where bulk carriers were gliding by noiselessly. Lovely ambience and good food, with the Moroccan Lamb being the hero of the meal. Sadly, no room for what looked like wonderful desserts

We went to last night for our 27th Wedding Anniversary, such a wonderful experience, service was great and food amazing. We had the Brie for Entree and the Garlic Prawns, exceptional presentation and taste buds dancing, mains salmon and the lamb brisket, again great presentation and well balanced flavours. Sat downstairs a drizzy night but the views where lovely, great history on the building, we are now looking at having our sons 21st family dinner there in October, highly recommended. Prices are would you would expect for location and the food lived up to the pricing. We had the waitress (sorry didnt get her name) from Germany very attentive and the Function Manager very helpful showing us the function room after dinner. A great night thank you - will be back.
