We went to Battlesticks last night before a show. We told the staff we needed to be in and out fairly quickly - they did a great job of getting our food out quickly. We had several share plates including prawns, risotto balls, squid, chicken, haloumi, salad and they were all super delicious. The haloumi and risotto were my favourite. The wine list is good and the view is amazing. Great live music, all the songs we knew, so the atmosphere was buzzing. This is a fabulous bar and great ambience, perfect setting!

We always visit Battlesticks whenever we are in Newcastle. The food is fantastic, the drinks and service are wonderful and the view is superb. What more do you need? Highly recommend for dinner or a relaxing afternoon session. You won’t be disappointed.

Established multi award winning Seafood Restaurant located on a Wharf that juts into Newcastle Harbour. Fantastic Views of the working harbour day & night. Excellent Cellar to accompany any choice of meals.

We visited Newcastle at Easter and one of the things that we really wanted to do was to enjoy a meal at Scratchleys Restaurant on the foreshore. For the life of us, we can't believe that a seafood restaurant with such a reputation would be closed for the whole of the Easter break when Easter is traditionally a seafood festival time. Couldn't they take a week off in the winter months? I am certain that the restaurant, takeaway and Battlesticks would have had great patronage if they had opened. Very disappointing for tourists who have this place on their holiday agendas.

Hi Cheryl,

Scratchleys has always closed over the Easter break as we do not operate on public holidays. We do this to give our staff an opportunity to be with THEIR families and enjoy a break that is longer then a day or two. As you're aware seafood is the main attraction around Easter which makes it nearly impossible for a restaurant of our size to stock enough FRESH seafood to supply the whole Easter break - which ultimately will leave the patron dissatisfied as our menu would be nearly cut in half with limited seafood options. Apologies that you couldn't visit our restaurant on those public holidays, but a reminder that we are open every other day of the year for both lunch and dinner. I'm sure you can appreciate that our staff work very hard so it is a lovely reward to have a week of in the warmer months to spend with their families and friends.

Regards

Battlesticks At Scratchleys is the new section of the iconic Scratchleys Restaurant positioned on Newcastle Harbour with views to Nobbys Lighthouse, Stockton and across the working harbour. Sharing some delicious Tapas with Italian, Spanish and Asian flavours with friends is a great way to taste test the many menu items. Top them with a glass of Prosecco, Shiraz or Pinot Grigio or one of the many wines or beers on offer.
