I have been to Habesha a number of times now, and the food and service is always great. I particularly recommend the kale and pumpkin! Try to avoid the early seating, especially if you're in a group, as you will feel rushed and pushed out of the restaurant, which is never a pleasant feeling. Always book it advance, because the seating area is small, but if you can't get a table you can always get takeaway.

Lovely quaint little restaurant. Food, atmosphere and service was excellent. Great vegetarian options. Loved the ritual of cleaning of hands and then eating with our hands. Definitely book ahead. Wine list was good. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

We came to Habesha tonight for the first time. Very impressed by the staff and service. Asked them what they recommended and very good choices. Very tasty and interesting flavours. Would love to return to try more of the dishes. Highly recommended.

We had dinner with a group of 8 and chose one of the banquet menus with our choices of entree and mains. Food was really nice and very authentic with the waitress cleaning hands with a jug of water. You eat the food with an Ethiopian bread which is like a doughy pancake. You spoon food onto the bread and eat that way. No knives or forks. Food was very nice and plenty of subtle spices. Plenty of wine or beer to choose from but no spirits. Prices were quite cheap with the banquet around $25pp and plenty to eat.
Definitely worth visiting

We stayed in Newcastle for one night and ate here in the evening following a recommendation of a local.

We were told to book ahead.

We were really impressed by the food and wine, and the bill was almost unbelievably low!

Would definitely recommend to eat here, great food and a unique experience.
