The Art Gallery is within the Western Plains Cultural Centre and while Covid-19 restrictions one must register to attend. Mind you the gallery space was very quiet, compared to the coffee lounge.
The gallery is currently used for displaying exhibitions by local artists and I was pleasantly pleased by the quality and originality of the work on display.
We really enjoyed our visit to this place. Both the art gallery and Multicultural Centre. Some very beautiful art displays by locals and others, from paintings to visual indigenous displays. The look back into the past in the multicultural centre was not only fantastic memories but also an enjoyable way to show our kids that this beautiful country was built by many hands from many nations. Free entry and cafe in the main foyer really calls for more visits.
Well done Dubbo
What in the world is this place? A celebration of white people in these parts? All that was dedicated to ‘real’ culture was one paragraph to the Indigenous. Seems like the goal of genocide was achieved ages ago.
We appreciate your views on visiting our museum, we too acknowledge the representation of indigenous culture within our regions story is underwhelming. It is hoped we can address that in the near future, but would like to assure you our Region is investing in its First Nations People and telling their stories within the Wiradjuri Tourism Centre due to open in 2021/22.
We hope you will come back to see this significant cultural offering.
I was incredibly disappointed by the lack of Aboriginal history at this "cultural centre." It's like the place has erased the existence and history of its first nations people.
I'm so disappointed that the place where I was supposed to learn about the history of Dubbo basically ignores 40 or more THOUSAND years of history and culture and pretends the place was built by a bunch of white people.

I really enjoyed my visit here - the Heritage side of the building was particularly fascinating with great objects and told the history of Dubbo from ancient times to the present day. I particularly enjoyed seeing the aboriginal objects. The cafe was excellent and I liked the display of local crafts including jewellery and textiles in the cafe area. I was not so impressed by the art gallery display but the particular exhibition which was on when I visited was not my sort of thing.
Visited for brekkie, orders to be placed at the counter, indoor and outdoor seating, food ok, but sourdough under eggs needed to be toasted
