Great accommodation and restaurant

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Nov 2019via mobile
Stayed overnight recently. Rooms clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking for larger vehicles. Restaurant was an added bonus. Food and service were excellent. Booking was easy, great prices and location.

This was supposed to be a happy occasion with the Birth of our new grandson, we hastily made plans to locate a hotel to stay for the week as the delivery had complications and a length hospital stay was anticipated, think we were doing the right thing and booking direct to the motel to maximise their profit but dismissed the abrupt call to book the room like I was doing them a disservice and the same abruptness on arrival but put that aside as our got the good news of our new grandson on arrival to Dubbo, unfortunately that went downhill very quickly with our stay.
after a rather late night at the hospital we slept in a little only to be greeted by a knock on the door and the cleaner barged in lucky my wife was up as I was in the shower and on 2 more occasions our front door just opened for no apparent reason need to keep the chain on, speaking of showers apart from the fact that it was loose and in the wall we were in a drought area with a shower with no econocycle the deluge from the shower was something else why is there no shower saver heads on these showers limiting the water use?? The same thing applies to the lights all old technology burning precious resources and dollars, the downlights took about 5 minutes to brighten up what a waste of power.
Other problems we found
The bathroom had no cold water at the hand basin the tap under the vanity was turned off tight
The walls in the bathroom where covered in dirt above shoulder height
Only one PowerPoint provided for the kitchenette so breakfast was a monumental task to use the jug, toaster and microwave
Only one PowerPoint in the living area for laptop and mobile phones although there is one only PowerPoint at floor level beside the bed
The kettle was full of garbage and had to be washed out to before we could make a cuppa
And the internet was atrocious I did a speedtest and it was .12 down and 20 up (yes that was a point one two) and there was only a few people staying there??
don’t expect a quiet stay as they were using blowers at around 7am in the morning and with the cleaners going back and forth you struggle to sleep in

Things didn’t get better when I went to the office on the Wednesday to extend an extra day till the Saturday as they were arguing with an elderly gentleman about payment with paper going everywhere embarrassing really,
I asked the same lady who initially booked with about extending the stay which was not a problem and went to the computer added the extra day at the same nightly rate which I checked with her and she reassured me it would be.
this was all good till we come back from the Friday afternoon and denied access to our room only to find our booking was removed as at tour bus was coming in and there was now no rooms available, all our stuff was bundled up and in trolleys out the back they did offer to find us another hotel but with the wife in tears we left Dubbo as it would have been too hard to sort the mess of our belonging out that late in the day , a very sober ride home as we unable to say goodbye to our daughter and new grandson never to return to the motel again we stayed in Room 126

Room tip: Don't stay here there are plenty of other Hotel/Motels around that are up to standard this room is not

Our room was beautifully refurbished with a lovely clean and comfortable feel about it. we felt so at home here.
The food was good, and service efficient.
Breakfast was a different matter, we had to repeatedly ask for top ups of things, cups, sugar, plates etc, and the staff were not on hand to assist but trying to run the reception office as well. I felt they could have had someone on hand to wait for the short time at breakfast instead of having to chase her up for a plate or a cup. The Toasters kept shorting out, which was a nuisance. I have to admit I had a large group of 44, but it was pre booked. Food was excellent though.

I've stayed here many times but I have to put finger to keyboard. The staff are the heart & soul of this motel. Under the new & experienced manager Diane my latest 3 night stay with my autistic brother was seamless. Diane , Ben & the exceptional girls were always aware of our special needs & did everything from a quick chat in the morning to "can I get you extra towels " every day. Thank you and I'll see you all in December.

We recently stayed at the Matilda Motor Inn the night before and the night after a coach trip to the Edinburgh Tattoo in Sydney. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We were unable to order a cooked breakfast for the Saturday morning (They only supply a Continental Breakfast on weekends) but the cooked breakfast on Monday was delicious.

Quiet, clean and lovely motel. Room was lovely, food at the restaurant was delicious after a long drive. Towels clean and fresh provided, staff helpful and accommodating. Didn’t use the pool but it was clean and appealing.
