We always enjoy a meal here when visiting Queenstown. The restaurant has a nice ambience, staff are great. Food as usual delicious. My husband had the bluff oyster while I had the clams for entree. The venison looked beautiful, perfectly cooked... rare. My butterfish was beautifully cooked with a parsley saucy soup next to it. I loved the hazelnut crunch with my fish. Desserts were lovely too. You do have to book and required to confirm your booking (email sent to you on the day to confirm).

Went for lunch with my parents and chose the two course option. I had the venison entree and pork belly main. They were both fantastic...my dad was ecstatic with the kingfish (I think!) cerviche. It’s my fourth visit. Each ski trip to Queenstown I make the time though this is the first lunch. It was excellent and consistent as always. We’ll be back

Amazing dining experience at this institute. Great service, amazing wine and cocktails. The highlight was their famous beef Wellington that’s made to order and takes 45 minutes to arrive at your table. Beautifully cooked medium rare stake and accompanied side dishes of your choice!
If you are into fine NZ cuisine, must visit when ya in QTown!

We were lucky enough to get a table as they were packed. Had 2 appetisers to share , an entree and main each. All were outstanding.

We had a beautiful experience at Rata. Service was faultless and the food was absolutely delicious - the beef tartare, eel rillette, venison and beef fillet all had that something special. The chef clearly takes pride in producing unique, flavour-filled food. Dessert was a bit of a let down (the rose apple crumble) but didn't ruin our experience. Definitely an expensive meal but well enjoyed.
