“Very Friendly and Helpful”
Reviewed 30 December 2011

This was my first visit to Queenstown. Trudi was so welcoming and gave us great info on what to see and do! Room was upstairs very clean and bed comfortable! Motel very close to town and gondola! Stayed again after our Routeburn Tramp, 4 days later, this time down stairs. Only negative, fridge noise kept us awake, so turned it down.
Highly recommended!!
Sue and Fraser

Room Tip: Upstairs seems less noisy and better air flow in room

We were upgraded to a king, spa room. The bed took extra space, but was nice and comfortable. Refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, and adequate dishes. TV on the desk, which had to also be used for breakfast. Only one desk chair, so hassock (to the single easy chair) was used as second breakfast “chair”. We used the floor of the closet for overnight storage of some of our small hand luggage. We assume every room had the heated towel rack which was nice for overnight laundry. Only 3-4 blocks from town, so a good location when walking.

I stayed in Bella Vista for 5 nights on a G/F room. Booking was done by scenicpacific.co.nz, included in an independent coach tour of South New Zealand. I believe the nightly rate in November is around NZ$90.

Location: 10 min walking to town, in a quiet area away from shops, below the Skyline gondola hill, facing the sports field of a high school. Added bonus of fireworks at night over that field and another down the street, done by teenagers.

Room: moderate size studio, with queen bed, big table with drawers, large closet, kitchenette with sink, microwave, under counter fridge, water boiler jug, French press and plates/utensils. I used boiled water to make coffee (bring your own grind, or use the complimentary instant powders), or let it cool down overnight for refilling water bottles. A wall-mounted electric heater is powerful enough to keep the room warm at night, when the outside temperature was 0-4C in early Nov.

Bathroom: moderate size and spacious, with shower tub that can be used for spa (not done during stay), towel warmer etc.

Service: it happened that during our stay, the management was trying out a new maid. I noticed the manner of room cleaning was slightly different from one day to another. Overall the room was maintained to my satisfaction. But beware that the front window facing the outside car park area was typically opened ajar after the maid had left the room. I suspect that was done to aerate the moisture inside.

The manager lady was very friendly and helpful. There are tour info and brochures in the front office. I purchased a one way shuttle trip to the airport from her that was discounted. She told me that Bella Vista is a national chain, but each location is free to operate under its own individual style and details.

I like this motel due to its quality, convenience to town and budget price. What a value & smart buy!

Room Tip: Pick a G/F room in cold weather. Every room is away from street.

Bella Vista is a nice motel and a very good price in comparison to others in Queenstown. It's in a great location, we were able to walk in to town every day in only 5-10 minutes and walk to the gondolas. The staff were friendly as well. Overall a great stay!
