“Noise Level of Room”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

We have stayed at the St Moritz previously and been entirely satisfied. However, this time we had a very noisy room. Our room was directly under the bar area and we assumed the noises were coming from there. It was not voices etc that could be heard, but the sound of people moving around, moving furniture and at one time a machine could be heard. We assumed it was them cleaning the area but when I mentioned it to the lady on reception she said there would not be any cleaning going on at that time. On our first night it was almost continual until 1.30am and on the second night it was earlier in the evening and then we were woken again about 2.15am due to the noises.

When we checked out I told the receptionist that we were going on to an Accor hotel in Dunedin and hoped for a good nights sleep there!! Even though our room in Dunedin was right beside the busy road we still had a better sleep than at the St Moritz.

I was a little disappointed in the room as it was a little dated and certainly not as nice as our friends who had a suite which was far superior and we all paid the same rate, - compared to their's ours was a bit like an attic room. However the rooms amenities were good, the staff helpful, good view of the Lake, the breakfast was average but not as good as most we had in New Zealand, convenient walk to town and its attractions ,quiet and like others we had a lovely note from the cleaner.

Room Tip: Ask for a Lakeview Suite.

we enjoyed the views from our Lakeview Suite (would recommend this room type) and the rooms were spacious and had all the amenities. Unfortunately this hotel is let down by a few things.
1. When you prepay for breakfast on the Accor hotel.com site when you book, it often does not show up (this is the second time it has occurred for me) on check in and the staff have no idea about it.
2. We asked the receptionist to book us into a popular winery for lunch, when we arrived at the winery there was no booking.
3. The breakfast buffet is at best, terrible. Tinned peaches, basic cereal, frozen pastries and eggs that had been sitting on the buffet too long. Then they charge you for a coffee after paying $29.50 for a breakfast that you would get at a backpackers,
4. They charge astronomical fees for wi-fi. $29 for 24 hours.
5. We stayed at the new Hilton property after checking out and it was far superior than St Moritz.
