“Fantastic experience”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

We were wowed by the fun of whitewater rafting with Queenstown rafting. We had lots of questions and concerns when planning our trip from Canada but they were very helpful via email. When we arrived on the day of the trip they were well organized. They even offered us a very reasonable upgrade to fly via helicopter into the canyon. The rafting itself was fantastic with lots of rapids. Guides were very safety concious but fun at the same time. All equipment was provided.
Our teenage sons had one of their best experiences ever with Quuenstown rafting!

“Most fun I've had in ages”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

A most enjoyable experience doing something totally different to anything I've done before. Xanders knowledge, humour and sense of humour made learning the skills necessary to negotiate the river a fun, albeit wet experience. I'd recommend Queenstown Rafting to anyone looking to have some fun on the river.

“Cool...but was hoping for a little more action”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

The guides were fun and knowledgable, the drive there was great (and a little dangerous) as you get to see some pretty rare geological features on your way to the canyon (for this reason I'd recommend taking the mini-bus over the helicopter flight).

The canyon is beautiful, but the river was a little low during our trip. We did experience some rapids but nothing compared to what I was expecting - I was kind of looking forward to getting flipped out of the boat!

Again, probably due to the height of the river at the time.

All in all, great experience, just a bit on the tame end of the spectrum.

“Disappointed...”
Reviewed 10 March 2012

You couldn't beat the scenery and we had great weather for the day of our rafting trip on the Shotover River. Also, you get an incredible and hair-raising drive through Skippers Canyon. However, you pay $180 NZD for a very short 2-hour trip on the river. The rapids are few and far between, and overall I found it boring. If you've rafted before, save your money for other New Zealand activities... and save the whitewater rafting for a different country where you'll get a better deal and more excitement.

Thanks for your comments, and sorry to hear you were disappointed with the trip.

The river as you can imagine, changes frequently and levels do go up and down according to rainfall and snow melt, however peoples adrenalin levels are all different too. You only have to read the many varied reviews here to see that.

The majority of customers find it great fun and the rapids big enough for them. The staff are usually pretty good at explaining accurately what the water levels are doing and how it is affecting the rapids but after your comments I will talk with them again to make sure we are explaining it correctly.

However if you are back again particularly in the Spring, let us know and we'd love to get you out again in different water levels.

“Sal is the best guide!”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

If you get to pick your guide - go with Sal. She as amazing! Super friendly, super helpful and very knowledgeable about the area we were floating down. She also encouraged us with games, and let us float down the rapids outside of the raft. It was a great experience and one I'd definitely do again. Forget how cold the water is and seriously float downstream in the water!
