“Simply Outstanding - The Rees”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

I visited The Rees for 2 nights as I was in Queenstown to compete in a half marathon and grab the chance to run on some of the most picturesque trail in the country. I could not speak more highly of my experience. The rooms were well appointed and spacious with all the wonderful details you would expect to find in a luxury hotel. Parking was complimentary for guests (a big plus). The staff were amazing and went the extra effort to make you feel comfortable during your stay. I had a massage at Body Sanctum which I would rate as one of the best I have ever had - the view of Lake Wakatipu from the massage table added a magical touch. I didnt dine in the restaurant but took advantage of room service - the meal was superb and the service quick despite the restaurant being fully booked for a special event. I dont write glowing reports unless I feel they are justly deserved but as far as The Rees goes I would highly recommend it. A great hotel that made my trip a very memorable occassion

Room Tip: I chose the lake view room and was not disappointed - something very tranquil about being able to ga...

We stayed 2 nights and were so comfortable in our spacious room with a beautiful lake view and luxury facilities. Whilst we were some distance from Queenstown, the lakeside walks made the visit to the town so enjoyable. An unfortgettable few days as we concluded our first visit to New Zealand - thank you Rees.

Room Tip: Make sure you take the lakeside walks.

We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom unit and everything was fabulous! The staff were very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. We did not rent a car and relied on the complimentary van service to get to and from the CBD of Queenstown. It was very convenient and only a 5 minute drive. It's also a beautiful walk on a nice day - less than 30 minutes. We visited Milford Sound, did the ZipTrek Eco Tour, NZone Sky Dive, and the Glenorchy Lord of the Rings Tour. Everything was great. In hindsight we could have rented a car, bought a guidebook and did the Lord of the Rings tour ourselves - it was overpriced and the drive would have been very easy. Highly recommend staying at the Rees. The view from the room was beautiful - you can't beat it! True South was also excellent - we had the restaurant to ourselves one evening and the staff made it a very memorable experience. Highly recommend it and the food was great. Vudu Cafe in Queenstown is another must visit for breakfast! Enjoy your visit! Can't wait to return one day.

Room Tip: I don't know if there is a bad room - just make sure u get one with a view of the lake

We stayed here for one night before flying home after driving about 2000 miles in 19 days in NZ. The property is to die for, the view over the top and the service impeccable. I wish we could have stayed here longer!
It's away from town but they have a shuttle so you don't have to deal with the traffic and parking (Queenstown is a crowded, touristy place). You can also walk along the lake for about a half hour to get into town or back. We did this after dinner on a warm and clear night and it was wonderful to watch the moon rise.
We arrived very early, about 11:30 and thought (without much hope) we'd see if we could check in. Unbelievably our room was ready and available! It was roomy with a comfortable bed and a wonderful view of the lake. Also, the shower was fabulous (great pressure) and there was a spa tub too. Breakfast was included in the rate and it was outstanding. We had a wonderful time there and I highly recommend it!

An absolute pleasure to stay here with the staff really living the 5 star standards. The room service food was exceptional with Italian food I ate being as good as a trip to Florence. The rooms are lovely, bathrooms are great with heated flooring and the views are spectacular.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels but the staff really made this hotel better than the rest.

Room Tip: Get the green cabs they are cheaper.
