We spent two nights at Pomeroy's B&B next to their pub and kitchen in Christchurch. The room we had in the front was spacious and inviting, and though the pub was just next door, there was really no noise after it closed at 11 PM (but noise prior so note this). The B&B has a rear parking lot which is helpful as the pub parking lot gets very full. Service was efficient and cheerful with keys being exchanged with the pub staff.

The pub itself and the breakfast and dining rooms are traditional British style with excellent nooks, many good beers on tap, and surprisingly good food. My wife was so impressed with the meals that she spoke to the chef and managed to get a recipe out of him. The duck and lamb were indeed excellent.
The breakfasts are very good and very nicely presented. As good as we had anywhere in NZ over a three week trip.
The location is about 1 km from the edge of the CBD and one can walk along the Avon river all the way. Beautiful.

I would come back to this place in a minute.

Room Tip: Get a room in the interior of the B&B on the side away from the pub for least noise if you retire early.

We stayed one night and really enjoyed the whole "Pomeroys" experience. The separate b&b accommodation is comfortable and spacious, with a guest lounge area providing tea and coffee. We ate at the pub in the evening - great lively atmosphere, the staff are very friendly, and the food was very good. Breakfast the next morning at the adjoining Poms cafe was also excellent - either choose from the b&b menu or select from the extensive menu at a reduced rate. The cafe was very popular and again staff were very friendly. We would definitely recommend this to any visitors to Christchurch.

Stayed here two nights in October 2016. Chose it because of the Garden Room description and the pub next door for dinners. Peaceful room that was perfect for our two night stay. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom and the bed was super comfortable. Laundry onsite was great and the offer of wifi helpful.

No one was around when we arrived so just popped over to the pub to check in and they quickly came over and showed us our room. Phone numbers were posted if we needed the owners so it wasn't a concern they were not onsite.

The only thing troublesome was that wifi was not always working in the room but only the "diningroom" which was the common area for guests. TV in room mounted on the wall was size of a computer screen. Not a big fan of that and could do with a minimum 33" flatscreen. The diningroom was nicely stocked with coffees, teas and hot chocolate and the newspaper. Would have been perfect if there was a couple of lounge chairs to relax on so we just sat at the table and read.

Took a taxi to the mall to pick up some necessities for our week trip and ate at the Pomeroy's pub next door so don't know about the walk into the city. All in it was a good stay.

Lovely feel to this place, nicely set out with good facilities inc. a laundry and kitchenette.
I think a tad over priced for the rooms but given its location with a great pub and cafe with good food and drink next door, very nice.

Very nice place. Room was large, well furnished and in a lovely building. Right next door was the Pomeroy pub with really good food. The only issue was that like, seemingly, every other bathroom sink in Australia and New Zealand the water pressure is so high that when you turn on the faucet, the water splashes off the sink and on to the floor. Evidently under sink, shut off valves are an idea that has not reached this part of the world, so one cannot throttle the flow to correct this annoying issue. Pub's outdoor seating area was a little noisy, but we were not facing it and did not hear anything in our room.

Room Tip: ask for room away from pub seating area
