This lovely cottage is located walking distance to Christchurch city center. Well furnished and beautifully maintained by the owners. The kitchen was well equipped with the cookware and utensils.I would highly recommend this homestay for families or a group of 6 adults.

Short stroll to the CBD. Perfectly appointed.
Couldn't have asked for more.
Definitely where we'll stay next time we visit Christchurch.

“Impeccable small cottage - beautifully presented”
Reviewed 19 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We stayed here in peak Summer season (Jan 2017 - family of 5) and found the cottage to be excellent. It has lovely antique furniture, excellent linens, it's beautifully decorated, very clean and there are lots of thoughtful touches (DVDs, board games, hairdriers, well equipped kitchen). Outside the garden/BBQ area is compact but fine to sit for a while in the sunshine. There is a skylight in the living area which makes the room bright, and light pipes in both shower rooms, which again keeps the whole cottage light. The two double bedrooms are at the front of the cottage on the roadside. There wasn't much road noise though, so not really a problem. There's excellent hanging and shelf storage in each bedroom. I only have 1 small downside, which is that there are (lovely) blinds on the master bedroom windows, but nothing else (e.g. voiles), so anyone walking along the road could see straight in to the bed. It wasn't a big problem though and would certainly not stop us going back to stay.

Thank you for your kind review and feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Brickledown.
We are 'willing' the Viburnum hedge in the front garden to grow quicker to help with a break between the front bedroom and the street!
Thank you for booking Brickledown for your stay in Christchurch and we would love to host you again.......
Kind regards,
JO and ROB.

“Fabulous Property”

What a remarkable property for the four of us to call home during our Christchurch stay. Our only regret was not having longer to enjoy both the city and Brickledown. Jo had beautiful flowers and roses in the courtyard. The landscape of the property was pristine!

Brickledown was a perfect arrangement for the 4 of us. My husband and I were traveling with his sister and my aunt. The number of bedrooms and baths (as well as the size) was just what we needed. The quality of the mattresses, pillows, bedding and linens were excellent as were the bath towels. The kitchen was modern and well-appointed. The convenience of the newly installed wi-fi was greatly appreciated.

On the last evening of our stay, right at midnight, the earth started to rock and roll. By the time the initial quake had settled down some 2 minutes later we had experienced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Brickledown proved to be a sturdy bunker to ride out the initial earthquake and the many, many after shocks. Jo was so kind to check on us and to make several calls on our behalf to see if our scheduled flight out of Christchurch was still a go.

Seeing the resilience of Christchurch in the midst of the tragic 2011 earthquake was amazing. As we had toured the city on the first day of our visit we saw a city and her people that were moving forward with their lives while never forgetting the ones that perished. Christchurch you stole our hearts and we're looking forward to another visit.

We loved our stay at Brickl!edown in Christchurch. The location was great and easy to find. The home was awesome! Beautifully furnished, immaculately clean and had everything we could possibly need. Thank you so much for opening your home to us! I wish we could have stayed longer!
