I love coming here! The fishing lakes have lots of salmon and trout! The scenery is beautiful. Unfortunately the rivers that flow through are very bad quality, there is weed everywhere and they are very low (not a pleasant sight). Also some of the fishing lakes are low and have a bit to much weeds.

A good place for a barbecue on a sunny day with lots of room for kids to run around as well as two small playgrounds and a lake. Can be very popular in summer so if you want to use one of their barbecues get in early

This is a more wild type park close to the city. It has lakes and boats are available for hire. Quiet places to picnic (and use the free BBQs) and toilets and water on site.
Plenty of sheltered areas and playgrounds with a flying fox. Hours are 7am to 7pm or in the summer from 7am to 9pm. You can also take a walk or bike on the Otukaikino Track which starts here and follow a picturesque stream to two large lakes.(one swimmable) at the Roto Kohatu Reserve. You will pass the Clearwater resort an upmarket Golf Course with residences. Check out the City Council website (parks) before you go for info on the tracks.
