... turn right off Dyers Pass Rd - in front of Sign of The Kiwi - & travel a short distance, pull over on shoulder (carefully!) for a great view of the entire inlet & Lyttelton Harbour.
A bit further along road is a good view of The Adventure Park & an OK place to turn around & retrace steps. Turning right & now heading down to Lyttelton you could go through the tunnel, visit the Gondola & nearby Ferrymead historical Park.

Lyttelton took a major hit during the 2011 earthquake. The main street is rather depressing. Lots of vacant plots where buildings were demolished. Before the earthquake there was a great selection of cafes and restaurants. But not now. We left and went to eat in Sumner.

Caught the bus after visiting the gondola ride. Wandered around the shops and enjoyed a delicious roll and slice at the bakery. Coffee at the bakery was good too!
A pleasant afternoon and then caught the bus back to city centre.

We bought several meals worth of food. Very good food selection and great people to talk about local life. Took 45 minutes to get a coffee, so order before walking around.

Great spot to visit especially Saturday morning with the markets. Lovely seaside port with lovely shops and great cafes.
