The gondola ride is a short one but slightly longer than the gondola ride in Queenstown. The view at the summit was spectacular but unfortunately it was rather misty on the day we visited. The wind was surpsingly strong and was really chilly. Visitors can experience the time tunnel ride that will take you through the reconstruction of the history of the region. It was rather interesting although it was just short 10 minutes ride. I would recommend having lunch at the cafe and to enjoy the nice view at the same time otherwise there wasn't a lot to do at the summit. I was hesitating to visit both Christchurch and Queenstown gondola but after visited both, they are both pretty much the same experience except that Queenstown Skyline Gondola has a much bigger area for activities like luge ride and bungy jump with a nice restaurant and a cafe.
