After booking a room via their web site, emailing them, ringing twice to confirm our booking, we arrived at 8.30pm on a Tuesday night to find there was no booking. No offer was made to try and find us accommodation, and with 30,000 people in Christchurch for Kapa Haka we were not very happy to be out on the streets looking. Luckily we found a motel up the road (City Park Motel) which although it had no accommodation did help us to find some. After asking around the motel association we were told of several other less than positive experiences by others, I would steer clear of this place.

This is a basic- level motel, handily sited for Hagley Park and the railway. Our room was small with a bed-sit arrangement ie there was no separate bedroom. This did not bother us but may not suit everyone. It was clean but desperately in need of a makeover- the decor is tired and very drab. We felt it was overpriced given the bottom-end feel of everything. Even the cups and saucers are mismatched oddments. Wifi was an add-on cost. Landscaping is non-existent - our room looked out onto a gloomy square of bark with the odd weed.

Positives - Close to everything in Christchurch. staff was friendly, had a microwave and a awsum bathroom/toilet facilities. Bedding was also great.

Negatives/positive- I felt like I needed a degree to operate the heater but once sorted had a super warm sleep
Negatives- had to pay for internet and was slow as dial up
Negatives- there was a fragrant smell seemed to be covering up old stale smell of possibly mold.
overall id rank this joint 7/10.

Room Tip: We had to pay for wifi five bux a night. Really this should be included into the overall charge.

Great motel near center of town. Can walk to Hadley Park. Rooms had kitchenette with coffee and tea, also cream. Heated pads on beds which were great on chilly nights. Only downside was $5 charge each day for WiFi.

We were desperate for accommodation at a reasonable price so ignored poor reviews and stayed here for 3 nights in February 2014. A pleasant surprise! Dated decor does not matter. We stayed in 2 different rooms and found both spacious, clean, comfortable and not noisy. One was opposite the bus stop. Very convenient to the city.
