Have stayed here a couple of times, both stays were fantastic. The rooms are incredibly large, clean and for being right next door to a bar, incredibly soundproof. Have only ever dealt with the motel owner and she is a fantastic receptionist - good for a chat and extremely helpful. It's a shame that there's no private path way down to the river, however there is a path to the river about 30 seconds away (would recommend to anyone that they walk the short distance down to Raupo cafe!).

Room Tip: The rooms at the end closest to the reception have the best views

We stayed at this motel on our 1st night on South Island (day 11 of our 25 day NZ tour). After all of the really good motels we stayed at on North Island this bought us back to reality. The young girl on reception showed no interest on arrival and we certainly got the impression she did not want to be there. The room itself had plenty of space but all seemed passed its best. The view from the room was excellent - looking out across to the river. Pity the windows had got dried on bird dirt. (Do not think they had been cleaned for a long time) Upon checking out a different receptionist was on duty who was much friendlier. But for the first time whilst in New Zealand we were not asked if everthing was ok.

Stayed here with my sister. However, I have stayed a couple of years back with my daughter as well. My experiences were great both times. Excellent spacious rooms overlooking the lovely river. The beds were very comfortable. The shower the best I have encountered. We felt it was excellent value.
It was a few minute walk to wonderful Cafes, we walked along the waterfront walkways which stretched for miles and miles - very enjoyable. A few minutes walk to the centre of town.
I was concerned it may be noisey with the Hotel next door, but we didn't hear any street noise. The motel was off the main road so was quieter than motels you encounter on main routes. Would definitely stay again when staying in Blenheim, although no swimming pool.
