From the moment we stepped onto the property we were awed by the surroundings and our fabulous service. We dined outside and the food and wine were amazing. We had the goat cheese appetizer which was baked and about the best thing I have ever eaten! We had the lamb shoulder for 2 with fresh vegetables and I honestly never wanted dinner to end! We are no strangers to fine dining and upscale venues, but this was a dinner we will be talking about for a long time! And ALL the staff and servers were delightful, friendly and great at their jobs.

Lovely ambience. Picturesque setting. Cool vibe in restaurant with nice lighting and patio seating overlooking lawn and water. Gin Martini was excellent, wine choice was strong, and food very good. The green lipped mussels, in particular. Service was good at first but became a bit wayward (too many changes of server) later but overall it is one restaurant in NZ that is worth the price. Most others have disappointed.

The sharing concept isn’t great. We were confused by it with only 2 main sized meals with the rest being sides. The food itself was above average but lacked flavour. 40 dollars for a small price of fish which was suppose to be a large sharing plate was outrageous. 20 dollars for 5 chips. Location was superb but this restaurant needs to get over itself. Wairau river wines restaurant far superior to this at nearly half the price.

We had chosen the dish of the day for dinner. The lamb shoulder for a party of two was perfectly cooked, tender and tasty. They offered seasonal greens as side dish.
The wine menu holds plenty of local vineyards, but also some vines from overseas are available.
The siting was nice and so we were able to have one of the best meals in NZ.

This place is absolutely awesome. The location is stunning, and there are beautiful gardens, trees and vineyards to walk around.

The food was absolutely exceptional. We had a Merino lamb shoulder that was one of the best pieces of lamb I’ve ever had. Cocktails are good, starters were first class the wines available here were outstanding too (try the Malbec).

One thing to be careful of us that there is a two hour limit on the tables. The restaurant wasn’t full enough to kick us out on this particular occasion, but for a gourmet menu with expensive wines, that seemed a little bit brisk for us. No restaurant in France would consider a move like that; diners would only just be settling in by that time.

That said, would return here in a heartbeat
