We love the food here and are regulars. The food looks good, really good and tastes divine. Classic cafe approach - queue to place your order and then take your seat. And Wait, Today being a long weekend (ahead of Waitaingi day on Tuesday), the cafe sadly only had two waitresses and being a deservedly popular cafe, it was busy. But a 25 minute wait for our hot drinks, which then arrived after a follow up with my hot chocolate in a chipped cup and almost cold with no teaspoon to eat the yummy chocolate bits at the bottom. This is an up market place with top end prices and lovely staff. But the challenge to being great is that every customer experience is a good one: chipped cups and coldish hot chocolate and long waits. Having said that, the chocolate macaroons had a hint of aniseed and were heavenly.

My order was not complete so I had to leave my food and company and approach staff to rectify the issue. Food was good but overpriced for what I got. Staff not very attentive on this occasion.

It's a bit out of the way, over on an unlikely seeming stretch of Thorndon Quay. Somehow, though, it's usually crowded at peak times. The coffee is, after several visits, consistently very good. That consistency is, sadly, missing from the bakery side. The pain au chocolat is wonderful; the eclairs are a bit sad. It's been hit or miss on the savory side, too. We really want to love this place as it's close to home. But service can be slow due to crowding, the prices are middle-high, and pastry sometimes falls shy of expectation. That said, great coffee and decent pastry are good thing, and so is Bordeaux B&B.

OMG try the Millie Fuellies (I hope I spelled that correctly) for the Kiwis in the house that’s a giant custard square. My mouth is watering as I write this. The cabinet food is excellent and extensive and the menu is just as good. One of my favourite places for coffee and desserts. But then I seem to have lots of favourites. Anyhoo enjoy this place for great food and coffee. The service is great

A Wellington favourite with Jean-Louis' reputation as one of the best bakers around. Seems to have lost its way badly with lunch service. Two crepes meals ordered together but delivered 30 minutes apart with the second one stone cold and the savoury filling greasy and unappealing. Excuse made that the chef is busy, would you like a free coffee, sorry that doesn't cut it. Come on guys, you're better than this!
