“Great location”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

Stayed at this hotel because of it's location. Cuba Street, where it's all happening. Nice and clean room and at a good price. Very welcoming staff. Some great restaurants and bars within walking distance.

My partner & I stayed for 2 nights (Thurs & Fri nights), had picked the hotel from ian nternet site, mainly for its location & price, being central with walking distance to all main areas that we required. Right from our entrance to departure, we received fantastic, professional & friendly service (starting with all the recpetion staff we encountered, through to the housekeeping & service staff). All our enquiries from internet assistance, bagagge storage etc even through to asking for a band-aid - lol - were handled promptly, & in a warm friendly manner. The interior of building & our room (and all its facilities, eg: pool, fitness room, cafe, bar, lounge area etc..) were all tastefully decorated with a beautiful blend of fresh contemporary style while complimenting the vintage structure of the original builings era. Our room was "cosy" yet still catered for all our needs, was on the outer of the building, therfore did hear a tiny portion of street noise (which we expected to) yet on the other hand we were pleased to have opening windows & a view, all in all, we were open-minded to encounter a few negative points eg: street noise, as we chose to stay on a budget, and even on our room rate, our entire stay at Comfort completely surpassed our expectations on all counts - would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat & would recommend to others :)

Room Tip: If fit & able bodied, take the stairs instead of the elevator, so you can enjoy the interior fea...

I booked this hotel through Air New Zealand's Holidays website when I made flight bookings. The booking was processed through Pacific Leisure Group and NeedItNow. I was put in room 116 on the first floor facing Vivian Street (a busy and rather seedy street). The window, which is a single-glazed sash window, was above an industrial grade kitchen extractor fan that roared through to past midnight. There was tremendous noise as the restaurant disposed of bottles (individually) into the metal bottle skip and as the skip was collected early next morning. To top it off there were road works on Vivian Street with heavy machinery and flashing lights through the night. While I was looking for a basic room at a reasonable price - which I got - the point was to sleep - which I didn't.

Room Tip: Avoid the North side rooms at this hotel at the very least and if you have a similar experience to m...

Good afternoon micon_57,
Thank you for taking the time to tell me about your experience at the CQ Hotels Wellington. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies.
I have taken careful note of your comments in regards to the noise surrounding your room on this occasion and it is very unfortunate to read that you experienced such disappointment during your stay. Our downtown location can mean extra street activity, as much as we try to contain it. On your next visit, we would be happy to assign one of our quieter, south-facing rooms upon request’
Once again I appreciate you sharing your feedback, and it is my hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.
Kind regards
Olivier LACOUA

We stayed three nights here in a double room. The room was quite small but adequate. The hotel was clean and tidy and we had good service from the hotel staff. Parking available for $20 per night. Coin operated washers and dryers available too.

Would have been better if we had had a fridge in our room.

Well situated for seeing the sights of Wellington though.

In the Cuba quarter, this is a great location. The room was quite small but its very good price. Quite noisy from the restaurant below, the smell came into our room. The service was great, left charger at home so the guy in reception lent us one.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is quiet and not above a restaurant vent
