Spent several days over Easter at the Resort in one of their "villa" rooms. Was absolutely fantastic! Plenty of room for us and our little girl - even when it was raining we could all be inside and she could have all her toys spread out and there was still heaps of room. Room service from the Pavillion Restaurant was excellent and definitely worth the extra $5 - food was delicious both nights! Plenty to do with the little one as we took her little bike and she could push herself around while we walked, pools were lovely and warm and the playground was nicely situated. Plenty of large grass areas to play around on too. We'll definitely be going back!

I hadn't stayed at Wairakei for years since a company conference around 10 years ago. It still is a fairly good place to stay with lovely grounds. The restaurant was better than expected as at first glance the menu looked a little old school. It's also close to Taupo and Huka Falls too.

Hotel is spread over quite a large area. Pleasant grounds with two outdoor swimming pools - smaller one with pool bar, looked busier, however there is a second larger pool about 250 metres from reception, hidden by fir trees. Both pools heated year round between 32-38 degrees. Staff obliging, particularly restaurant staff. Good evening meal & selection for breakfast. Rooms large, quiet & pleasant. Cost: £113 per night, including breakfast for two people - good value

We stayed at Wairakei Resort in Taupo during Christmas- New years break. The resort was beautiful with small park and trampolines for the kids and 2 heated thermal pools and we got a good rate for 2 nights. But unfortunately, the bathrooms were too old that they had some funny smell.

The thing I hated about the place was the attitude of some reception staff. Some of them behaved very rude and never gave clear answers. For example, regarding the wifi there was some code which we could use after 24 hours which was given with the access card. Noone mentioned about it and since our wifi stopped I went to ask about it and this guy at the reception behaved as if we were stealing something from him. Also he wasn't clear at all in explaining what this code is. There was another manager, who saw that we were upset and explained everything clearly and provided extra access to the wifi.

Otherwise, the place was good. Also would be nice if they fix the old room smell in the bathrooms.
